Tyrone Nix

Bob Ghetti sits down with Tyrone Nix in the next episode of Legends. Nix, an American football coach who currently serves as the defensive coordinator for Tarleton State. Ghetti and Nix talks about his coaching career at Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Southern Miss. The brother of great Derrick Nix, who is the current wide receivers coach at Alabama. Jay Hopson

This week on Legends, Bob talks with Starkville High Athletic Director and former Southern Miss football head coach Jay Hopson. Southern Miss hired Hopson as its defensive backs coach in 2001. Hopson coached after the great Tyrone Nix, who was elevated to defensive coordinator. Hopson served as defensive coordinator 2005-2007. He returned to Southern Miss in 2016 as head coach and was tenured to the 2020 season. He went 28-23 as head football coach of Southern Miss. 4 Bob talks with Jay about his time at Southern Miss, why he decided to leave USM and what he's done after his time with the Golden Eagles. Kay James

An inductee into the Mississippi Sports Hall of fame, and named to the exclusive Southern Miss Legends Club in 2003, Kay James has an impressive coaching career spanning over two decades at Southern Miss, where she amassed a 403-224 record. She’s a four-time Conference Coach of the Year in both the Metro Conference and Conference USA, and prior to her time at USM, she coached Berry College for five seasons, winning a national small college championship in 1976 with an 85-20 record. Her combined coaching record stands at an outstanding 488-244, placing her among just 40 NCAA coaches in history with 450 or more wins. Kay led Southern Miss to 10 post-season bids and developed 16 All-Conference players, including four Players of the Year and one All-American. Larry Boyd
