episode Preston’s Story: The Fall That Changed Everything cover

Preston’s Story: The Fall That Changed Everything

In this episode of Sawyer’s Spurs, Preston shares the story of the moment that changed his life forever. Growing up between a small Nebraska town and Denver, Preston spent years chasing adrenaline, living without direction, and struggling with destructive habits and unstable relationships. After years of searching for purpose in work, hobbies, and adventure, everything came to a breaking point on July 11, 2021 in downtown Denver. While attempting to stop a man throwing objects off a rooftop, Preston climbed a building and fell nearly 50 feet. The fall left him with catastrophic injuries including a traumatic brain injury, shattered feet, a broken pelvis, a collapsed lung, and multiple surgeries. While in a coma during the first week of recovery, Preston describes an encounter that forced him to confront his life, his choices, and the truth about how he had been living. In that moment, he says he experienced something that changed everything. This episode is a raw and honest look at failure, responsibility, faith, and the long road toward rebuilding a life with purpose. Connect on social media! episode CUP Acts 16-18 cover

CUP Acts 16-18

In this episode of Sawyer’s Spurs, Erik and Preston continue their Bible study through Acts 16–18, exploring Paul’s missionary journeys and the spread of the early church across the Roman world. They discuss Paul’s decision to circumcise Timothy for the sake of ministry, the role of the Holy Spirit guiding where the apostles should go, Lydia’s conversion and the impact of faith within a household, and the powerful story of Paul and Silas worshiping in prison before the earthquake that frees them. The conversation also dives into Paul’s time in Athens, where he challenges Greek philosophers by pointing to their altar “to the unknown god,” and explains how the gospel meets people within their culture while still proclaiming Christ as truth. Along the way, Erik and Preston reflect on patience, mission work, cultural understanding, and how believers today can share their faith in a way that connects with the people around them. Listen and join the conversation as they wrestle with Scripture, ask honest questions, and explore what Acts can teach modern Christians about faith, courage, and spreading the gospel Connect on social media! episode CUP Acts 14-15: Grace Over Law, Truth Over Power cover

CUP Acts 14-15: Grace Over Law, Truth Over Power

In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas preach in Iconium and Lystra, witness a dramatic healing, and then get mistaken for Greek gods. The crowd swings fast from worship to violence, and Paul is stoned and left for dead. In Acts 15, the early Church faces a major question: do Gentile believers need circumcision and the Law of Moses to be saved? The apostles debate, Peter speaks clearly, James gives judgment, and the Church sends a letter that protects believers from unnecessary burdens. We also talk about how hard it is to change someone’s worldview, why truth gets resisted, how “power” can distort belief, and what it looks like to share faith without using it like a weapon. episode Demon: Invite the Demon to the Table cover

Demon: Invite the Demon to the Table

After a life-altering accident left him unable to care for himself, Preston Sawyers Jr. found himself face-to-face with something he could no longer outrun: depression. Lying in a hospital bed with no distractions left, he began confronting the lies he had built his identity on — providing, physical strength, independence, and pride. In this episode, Preston shares the “card table” process he developed: instead of avoiding the darkness, he invited it to sit down, identified the lie it was telling, and asked God what was true. One by one, the accusations lost their power. The conversation expands into responsibility, worldview, and the idea of “ultimate truth.” Preston explains why he believes wisdom requires a stable foundation beyond feelings or cultural trends, and why stepping into reluctant or uncomfortable moments often leads to growth on the other side. If you’ve ever wrestled with identity, depression, or the fear of stepping forward, this episode offers an honest look at what it means to confront the lie and build on what you believe is true. episode CUP Acts 11-13: Correction, Culture, and the Cost of Compromise cover

CUP Acts 11-13: Correction, Culture, and the Cost of Compromise

In this episode, Erik and Preston walk through Acts 11–13 and explore some of the most important themes in the early church: correction, discernment, cultural pressure, and mission. Peter recounts his vision and defends why the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit. The church at Antioch grows. Paul and Barnabas are set apart for missionary work. A false prophet is confronted. And Paul delivers one of the most powerful gospel summaries in Acts. The conversation moves beyond the text into modern application: * How should correction look in the church today? * What happens when political or cultural pressure reshapes Christian conviction? * How do we respond to false teaching without becoming harsh or self-righteous? * Where is the line between compassion and compromise? This episode wrestles honestly with difficult questions about church discipline, responsibility, free speech, discernment, and how Christians navigate modern social ideologies without losing biblical grounding. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
