episode ADHD at Work: The Case for Neuro-Inclusion | Tracy King artwork

ADHD at Work: The Case for Neuro-Inclusion | Tracy King

Why Neuro Inclusion at Work Matters for Women With ADHD Have you ever felt like the workplace was designed for literally everyone except your brain? You are not imagining it. It kind of was. My guest today is Tracy King - speaker, learning strategist, neuro-inclusion advocate, and CEO of Inspired Ed. Tracy has spent over 25 years making learning environments and workplaces actually work for every kind of brain. They are also neurodivergent, and they bring both the research and the lived experience to this conversation. We cover a lot of ground in this one: * What neuro-inclusion is and why it is not the same as a DEI checkbox * The business case for supporting neurodivergent employees (including some numbers that are hard to argue with) * What masking costs neurodivergent women — physically, emotionally, and professionally and more! This is a conversation for every woman with ADHD who has spent years white-knuckling her way through a workplace that did not see her — and for anyone who wants to understand why building more inclusive environments benefits everyone, not just the people who need it most. ─────────── CONNECT WITH TRACY: * Website: www.inspired-ed.com [http://www.inspired-ed.com] * LinkedIn: Tracy King CEO [https://www.linkedin.com/in/tracykingceo/] ─────────── 🔗 Ready to work on this with someone who gets it? episode ADHD, Shame, and Addiction: What No One Tells You | Hilary Momberger-Powers artwork

ADHD, Shame, and Addiction: What No One Tells You | Hilary Momberger-Powers

This week's episode is one I've been looking forward to sharing with you. My guest is Hilary Momberger-Powers. 40+ years in recovery, former voice of Sally Brown in the Peanuts cartoons, co-founder of one of the first sober living houses for women in the United States, and one of the most honest and grounded humans I've had the pleasure of sitting down with. We talk about a lot in this one. The connection between ADHD and dopamine-seeking behavior, including addiction. The difference between shame and guilt and why it matters so much for us specifically. What it cost Hilary to spend her childhood performing instead of just being herself. And how inner child work became one of the most practical tools she has ever used - not in a soft, abstract way, but in a very real, you-can-start-today kind of way. There is also a moment in this conversation where we talk about fitting in versus belonging and I don't think either of us expected it to land the way it did. If you have ever changed who you are to be accepted, you'll know exactly what I mean. Hilary has this way of cutting right to what's true without making you feel worse about yourself. I think you are going to love her. ABOUT HILARY Hilary Momberger-Powers has been in recovery since 1983. She helped launch the first sober living house for women alcoholics in the United States — later known as Promises — and has spent over 30 years guiding women through addiction and recovery. She is also the author of two eBooks and is finishing her memoir, Good Grief Hollywood Ate My Childhood. episode ADHD Time Blindness: The Now vs. Not Now Problem Explained artwork

ADHD Time Blindness: The Now vs. Not Now Problem Explained

Have you ever had something on your to-do list for weeks - something you knew needed to happen - and you just couldn't make yourself start it? And then one day the deadline got close enough, the stakes got real enough, and suddenly you were doing it fast, wondering why you couldn't have just done this sooner? That experience has a name. It's called the now versus not now problem, and it's one of the most clarifying frameworks for understanding how the ADHD brain experiences time. In this solo episode, Jorie breaks down Dr. Russell Barkley's research on ADHD and time - specifically the idea that the ADHD brain doesn't experience time as a continuous line the way neurotypical brains do. Instead, time gets sorted into two categories: now and not now. And not now? It basically doesn't exist. It doesn't feel real, urgent, or pressing — even when you logically know it's coming. Jorie also shares her own experience — from being the last-minute term paper person to waiting until guests are walking in to clean the house — and how understanding this pattern changed the way she works with it. 💬 Where does now vs. not now show up most in your life? Jorie breaks down a very real, very documented pattern called pathological demand avoidance (PDA), or what she calls the defiant mind: when your ADHD brain experiences any demand as something to resist, even when that demand came from you. This one is a game-changer for women who have spent years wondering why they can't just make themselves do the things. In this episode: * What the defiant mind (PDA) actually is — and why it's not a character flaw * How it shows up in your relationship with yourself AND with the people in your life * Four practical strategies for working with your defiant mind instead of fighting it ───────── ✅ Rate & Review: If this episode resonated, please follow the show & leave a review here: https://ratethispodcast.com/adhdand [https://ratethispodcast.com/adhdand] ✅ Please share with a friend who may also need to see they aren't alone with their ADHD challenges and strengths.
