Women Who Lead with Love: Mrs. Altizer

Imagine being four years old and walking into your classroom each morning knowing your teacher is genuinely excited to see you. Before a single lesson began, Mrs. Altizer greeted every student with a warm hug and a smile that made us feel like the most important people in the room. She didn't just teach us our letters and numbers. She taught us what it feels like to be valued, celebrated, and loved. For me, that wasn't a dream teacher.  That was my reality. In this special series, I'm sharing the stories of the women who shape the world by living out what love truly is. One such woman, I was blessed to meet when I was 4 years old - she was my K4 teacher, Mrs. Altizer. Mrs. Altizer had a remarkable gift. She saw every child with delight. It didn't matter where we came from, what our abilities were, or whether we were having a good day or a difficult one. She welcomed each of us with the same warmth, belief, and joy. In her classroom, you felt seen. You felt heard. You felt like your thoughts mattered. Even as a curious four year old eager to share every new thing I learned, she never made me feel silly or insignificant. She created a space that invited us to keep sharing, keep learning, and keep growing. She had a way of making every child feel like they had something valuable to contribute. What impacted me most was how she approached correction. Growth, not shame, was always the goal. There was no intimidating timeout corner in Mrs. Altizer's classroom. Instead, there was the Sugar Factory, a place where you went to get sweetened up. It was such a simple idea, yet it carried a profound message: your mistakes do not define you. You are not labeled by your worst moments. You can grow. You can learn. You can become better. Looking back, I realize what an incredible gift it was to encounter that kind of love at such an early age. The way Mrs. Altizer saw people shaped the way I see people today. Her example taught me that leadership begins with delight, that listening is an act of love, and that believing in someone's potential can change the trajectory of their life. Maybe you've had a teacher, mentor, or leader who impacted you the way Mrs. Altizer impacted me. I hope you have. Because when someone chooses to see you with kindness, patience, and belief, their influence reaches far beyond a classroom. It stays with you for a lifetime. Wendy

Fail Forward

You tried. It didn't work. Now what? In this episode we're talking about failure — what it actually means, what it's supposed to teach you, and why the way you respond to it will determine everything about what comes next. Because here's the thing: failing the same way over and over is very different from failing forward. And most people never learn the difference. We'll cover: * Why focusing on the failure itself is the one thing keeping you stuck * How to extract the gold from any experience that didn't go as planned * Why staying somewhere just because of time invested is the weakest reason to stay * The difference between moving to a new room and actually changing the experiment Thomas Edison didn't bring light to the world by avoiding failure. He brought light to the world because he refused to make the same failure twice. That's available to you too. Fail. Learn. Grow. Repeat. That's not a setback — that's an education.

What's Actually Holding You Back

I want to ask you something. Is it the space? Is it the gowns? Is it today's brides who just can't make a decision? Because if that's what you're saying — I need you to hear this — you're right. Whatever you've decided to believe is exactly what your reality will be. In this episode I'm getting honest about the thing that is actually holding you back. And I promise you, it's not the lighting, or the dress selection, or the generation of brides walking through your door. I started Ava Laurenne with 22 dresses and two veils. I conducted a 13-person choir with a tone-deaf member and won Nationals. And I'm telling you from experience — Your limitations don't stop you. They just inform the path forward. This one is for anyone who has ever looked outside themselves for the reason they're not succeeding. It's also for anyone who's about to break a record that everyone around them says can't be broken. You have everything you need. Right now. In your hands. Go prove it. 💪 -Wendy ❤️

See It Again For The First Time

You started this job — or this relationship, or this season — completely lit up. And somewhere along the way, the fire got quiet. That's not failure. That's burnout. And it's more common than anyone talks about. In this episode we're diving deep into what burnout actually is, where it comes from, and the four specific things that either cause it or cure it — whether you're a bridal stylist, a teacher, a parent, or just someone who cares deeply about what they do. We'll cover: * Why focusing on the destination is quietly draining you * What happens when you forget there was a time you didn't know what you know now * How to never take for granted the blessing that's right in front of you * Why difficulty isn't the problem — being unprepared for it is This episode is a reset. A reminder that the energy you brought at the beginning? It wasn't an accident. And it can come back. See the gowns again for the first time. See the people again for the first time. Watch what happens.
