Acerca de The Teen Translation Project

The Teen Translation Project explores the teenage years through honest conversations with teenagers themselves. Each episode begins with a teen speaking openly about their world — friendships, pressure, identity, family and growing up. The parent then reflects on what they heard and what it means for their relationship with their children. A podcast about listening, understanding and bridging the gap between generations.

Teenagers Translated: A Daughter Speaks, A Father Reflects

In this second episode of The Teen Translation Project, a teenager speaks openly about what life feels like from the inside — friendships, expectations, pressure, independence, family and the everyday experience of growing up. Teenagers are often talked about, analysed, advised or corrected. But they are rarely asked to explain their world in their own words. In the first part of the episode, a teenage son shares his perspective on school, friendships, social dynamics, and the relationship with parents. In the second part of the episode, her father listens to what was said and reflects on it. What surprised him? What resonated? What is difficult for parents to understand about the teenage experience? And what might parents learn if they simply listened more carefully? The Teen Translation Project is built around a simple idea: if parents want to understand teenagers, they first need to hear them. Each episode features two separate conversations — first with a teenager, then with a parent reflecting on what was heard. The goal is not to judge, teach or offer expert advice, but to create space for honest perspectives and deeper understanding between generations. Because sometimes what teenagers say is not always what parents hear. And sometimes what parents hear is not always what teenagers mean. This podcast attempts to translate. Follow the podcast to hear new conversations with teenagers and parents exploring the realities of the teenage years.
