Do You Dare?
Welcome to Episode Fifty-Nine of Do You Dare? It’s Pride Month and much like last year we are dedicated every episode of this month to talking about and highlighting LGBTQ+ cases that so often get low medida coverage and low effort from police. This week we are covering a case that was requested by one of our listeners who brought this story of love, death and survival to our attention. (Trigger warnings: In this episode a letter is quoted that includes homophobia, sexual and derogatory language and mentions of sexual assault however there are warnings prior to this in the episode. Other warnings include rape, homophobia and gun violence.) In this episode Em tells the stories of Mollie Olgin and Mary Kristene Chapa, two young women who’s love story was only just beginning when a brutal attack left one of them dead and the other fighting for her life. Following along as we share the shocking details of the case, surprising twists, confusing evidence and an inspirational tale of a woman who not only fought for her life but for justice and for the larger community.
