Good morning, folks! Welcome to your Virginia Beach and Outer Banks surf zone forecast for Wednesday, June 3rd, brought to you by the National Weather Service. Let's start with the big picture. We're looking at some seriously fun conditions today, especially if you're an experienced water enthusiast. But before you grab your board and head out, you need to know what you're getting into. Down in Virginia Beach and up along the Outer Banks, we've got a Beach Hazards Statement in effect, paired with a HIGH rip current risk. I want to emphasize that. High. Not moderate. High. That means life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone today. Here's what's happening. Virginia Beach is expecting surf heights between two and five feet with that high rip current risk kicking in at eight this morning and lasting through this evening. The water temperature is holding steady in the lower 60s, so a wetsuit is definitely your friend. You'll have north winds around ten miles per hour becoming northeast in the afternoon, and it's going to be sunny with a very high UV index, so protect that skin. The Outer Banks Currituck area is seeing even bigger waves, with surf ranging from three to six feet today. That's the biggest swell we're tracking across the region. Same high rip current risk applies, and the same conditions otherwise. North winds around ten miles per hour with sunny skies and that intense UV exposure. Now, if you're not in those areas, the Maryland beaches and Accomack-Northampton areas have a moderate rip current risk instead. That's still nothing to take lightly, but it's a step down. You're looking at two to four foot surf in Accomack-Northampton and two to three foot surf at the Maryland beaches around Ocean City and Assateague. Same sunny forecast, same very high UV index. Looking ahead to Thursday, things calm down just a bit. The rip current risk remains high in Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks, but those massive waves should settle down to two to four feet. Other areas transition to moderate rip current risk. Temperatures climb into the mid to upper 70s across most areas. Still sunny, still gorgeous, but slightly more manageable. By Friday, the swell really starts dropping off, and we transition to more typical early summer conditions. Surf heights across the board should be two to three feet. Highs will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s depending on your location. Southwest winds pick up slightly to around ten miles per hour. Saturday looks fantastic. Mostly sunny skies, highs in the 80s, and those southwest winds continue around ten to fifteen miles per hour. Surf stays in the two to three foot range. This is prime beach day material. Sunday brings just a slight chance of showers and a few thunderstorms possible, but mostly sunny conditions should still prevail. Highs remain in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Still a solid day at the beach. So here's the bottom line for today. If you're an experienced swimmer or surfer and you want to test yourself against some legitimate ocean conditions, Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks have what you're looking for. But please take those rip currents seriously. Avoid swimming near piers, jetties, and groins where currents tend to be strongest. Never fight a rip current. If you get caught, swim parallel to shore. And honestly, if you're uncertain, this might be a day to watch from the sand instead. For everyone else, the moderate rip current areas still offer nice conditions for a beach day with just a bit more caution. And come Friday and beyond, we're looking at those classic early summer beach conditions everyone's been waiting for. Stay safe out there, and enjoy this beautiful stretch of weather coming your way. Episode Virginia Outer Banks Surf Forecast Sunny Today Two Feet Waves Monday Heat Index One Hundred Eight Degrees Cover

Virginia Outer Banks Surf Forecast Sunny Today Two Feet Waves Monday Heat Index One Hundred Eight Degrees

Good morning, this is your surf zone forecast for Virginia and the Outer Banks brought to you by the National Weather Service. Let's start with today. If you're heading to the beach, you're in for a beautiful day. Sunshine will be the name of the game across all our forecast areas, with surf heights holding steady around two feet. Water temperatures are sitting in the lower to mid seventies, so it's going to feel refreshing out there. Winds will be light, mostly from the west becoming southwest or east later in the day. The rip current risk is low everywhere, though remember that life-threatening rip currents can still develop near structures like groins, jetties, and piers. One thing to keep in mind is the UV index is very high, so slather on that sunscreen. Highs will reach the mid-eighties for most areas, with the Outer Banks climbing into the upper eighties. Now here's where things get interesting. Monday is shaping up to be quite the different story. A weather system will push into the region, bringing stronger winds and building surf. Across the Maryland Beaches and Accomack-Northampton areas, we're expecting surf to climb to three to five feet with a high rip current risk. That's when those breaking waves can become dangerous. At Virginia Beach, surf will reach two to four feet with a moderate rip current risk. The Outer Banks will see slightly smaller surf at two to three feet, also with a moderate rip current risk. Winds will increase significantly, especially in the afternoon, with south winds ranging from fifteen to twenty-five miles per hour depending on your location. Here's the real story though, and this is important: the heat index is going to be absolutely brutal. We're talking heat indices up to one hundred at the Maryland Beaches and Virginia Beach, and potentially reaching one hundred and eight degrees at the Outer Banks. That's dangerously hot. If you're planning to be outdoors Monday, start early, take frequent breaks in the shade, and keep hydrated. Moving into Tuesday, conditions will begin to moderate. Showers and thunderstorms are likely across most of the region, so keep an eye on the sky. Surf heights will drop back down to around two to three feet. Highs will settle into the lower to mid-eighties, which will feel like a relief after Monday's heat. Wednesday looks excellent. We're expecting mostly sunny to sunny skies, with highs in the upper seventies to lower eighties. Surf will remain small at around two feet. Northeast winds will keep things fresh and comfortable. Thursday continues the pleasant pattern with mostly sunny skies, highs in the lower eighties, and small surf around two feet. There's just a slight chance of showers at Virginia Beach, but overall it's looking like another nice beach day. One final reminder: the rip current risk categories are important to understand. A high risk means life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone. That's when you need to exercise extreme caution or stay out of the water entirely if you're not a strong swimmer. Stay safe out there and enjoy the beach responsibly. For more http://www.quietplease.ai Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

Episode Virginia Beach Surf Forecast Saturday Through Wednesday Two to Four Foot Swell Expected Monday Cover

Virginia Beach Surf Forecast Saturday Through Wednesday Two to Four Foot Swell Expected Monday

Good morning, this is your Virginia Beach surf forecast for Saturday, June 20th through Wednesday. Let's kick things off with today. We're looking at some beautiful beach weather with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-eighties. The water's sitting in the lower seventies, so it's getting close to that comfortable swimming temperature. Surf heights are holding steady around two feet with light northwest winds becoming southerly this afternoon. The rip current risk is low, but as always, be aware of dangerous currents around piers and jetties. Fair warning though - the UV index is very high today, so slather on that sunscreen. High tide at Virginia Beach Fishing Pier comes in at one-oh-six in the afternoon, with low tide hitting at six fifty-six this morning. Sunday looks even nicer, if that's possible. More sunny skies, similar two-foot surf, and temps climbing to the mid-eighties. Winds will be light northwest in the morning, turning easterly by afternoon. Same low rip current risk. It's shaping up to be an excellent weekend at the beach. Now things get interesting heading into Monday. We're tracking a system that'll bring surf heights up to two to four feet, so we might finally see some decent swell. Highs reaching the lower nineties with moderate south winds around twenty miles per hour. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms mixed in, so keep an eye on the sky. Still maintaining that low rip risk despite the increased surf. Tuesday shows a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms continuing with partly sunny conditions. Surf drops back to around two feet, and highs settle in the mid-eighties. Northwest winds ease to about ten miles per hour. By Wednesday, we're clearing out nicely. Mostly sunny skies return with highs around eighty and gentle northeast winds. Surf remains around two feet as conditions normalize. Overall, grab those boards for Monday's swell, but don't count out the weekend. Get out there and enjoy. For more http://www.quietplease.ai Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

Episode Virginia and North Carolina Beach Forecast Friday to Tuesday Sunny Weekend Ahead With Perfect Conditions Saturday and Sunday Cover

Virginia and North Carolina Beach Forecast Friday to Tuesday Sunny Weekend Ahead With Perfect Conditions Saturday and Sunday

Good morning, this is your Virginia and North Carolina beach forecast for Friday, June 19th through Tuesday, June 23rd. Let's start with today. Across all our beaches, we're looking at surf heights around two to three feet with a low rip current risk. Water temperatures are settling in the lower seventies, so you might want to think about that wetsuit. The weather pattern today is a bit unsettled. We'll see cloudy skies through the afternoon with showers developing, and there's a slight chance of thunderstorms, so keep an eye on the sky. Highs will be in the upper seventies to lower eighties depending on where you are. Winds will be relatively light, generally west to northwest around five to fifteen miles per hour. It's not a bad day to get in the water if you don't mind a little moisture from above. Saturday is looking significantly better. High pressure will move in and we're expecting mostly sunny to sunny skies across the entire region. Surf will back off slightly to around two feet, which makes for some gentler conditions. Highs will climb into the mid eighties, and winds will be light, mostly from the northwest becoming southwest by afternoon. This is shaping up to be an excellent beach day overall. Moving into Sunday, we're staying in this pleasant pattern. Skies remain sunny with surf continuing around two feet. Highs will be in the lower to mid eighties depending on your location, and winds will be quite light from the west. This is definitely a day you don't want to miss at the beach. Now, Monday brings some changes. A pressure system will approach from the south, bringing increased wind and moisture. Surf heights will bump up to two to five feet, with the Maryland beaches seeing the best potential for larger waves. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing, particularly later in the day. High temperatures will range from the lower eighties to lower nineties, and here's the big story: winds will become much stronger, shifting to the south at fifteen to twenty-five miles per hour. That increased wind and swell will also bring a heightened rip current risk, though it's still expected to remain low. However, if you're in the water near piers, jetties, or other structures, be extra cautious. Wrapping up the forecast, Tuesday continues mostly sunny conditions with surf heights returning to two to three feet. There's still a slight chance of showers in the morning. Winds will shift back to the northwest at around ten miles per hour, which will help clean up any remaining wind chop. Highs will settle back into the low to mid eighties. One important reminder: surf heights greater than four feet typically produce dangerous breaking waves and can elevate rip current risks to moderate or high levels. Additionally, life-threatening rip currents can occur near groins, jetties, reefs, and piers even during low risk days, so always be aware of your surroundings. Overall, you've got a beautiful weekend ahead with Saturday and Sunday being particularly nice. Enjoy the water, stay safe, and we'll see you at the beach. Episode Virginia and North Carolina Surf Forecast June 18 to 22 Two to Four Foot Waves Heat Advisory Cover

Virginia and North Carolina Surf Forecast June 18 to 22 Two to Four Foot Waves Heat Advisory

Good morning, this is your Virginia and North Carolina surf zone forecast for Thursday, June 18th through Monday. Let's start up in Maryland where the beaches of Ocean City and Assateague are looking at some fun conditions today. You've got two to four foot waves rolling in with a moderate rip current risk in effect from eight AM this morning through this evening. It's going to be mostly sunny with just a slight chance of showers, and those southwest winds around twenty miles per hour should keep things pretty lively out there. The water's sitting in the upper sixties, so a wetsuit might be your friend, and don't forget that UV index is very high today. Heading down to Virginia's Eastern Shore, Chincoteague and the barrier islands are in a similar boat with moderate rip currents and two to four foot surf. Water temperatures here are a bit warmer, hovering around seventy degrees. Again, mostly sunny skies with those southwest winds around twenty, so you're looking at some solid conditions for catching waves. Over at Virginia Beach and Sandbridge, things are a little calmer on the rip current front with a low risk advisory in place. Two to three foot waves, sunny skies, and lower seventies water temperature. But here's the thing, folks, it's going to be hot. We're talking mid-nineties with heat index values climbing up to one hundred and four degrees. So stay hydrated, apply that sunscreen liberally, and take breaks in the shade. Up at the Outer Banks in Currituck, you're also looking at low rip current risk with two to three foot waves. Sunny today with highs in the lower nineties and a heat index up to one hundred degrees. Southwest winds fifteen to twenty miles per hour. Now for Juneteenth, all these areas are expecting mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies with showers likely and chances of thunderstorms popping up. Rip current risk remains moderate up in Maryland and the Eastern Shore but stays low down at Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks. Surf heights will range from two to three feet. Winds will be lighter, and temperatures will actually drop into the lower to mid-eighties, which will be a welcome relief from today's heat. Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is shaping up nicely across the board. Sunny skies, surf dropping to around two feet or less, and temperatures in the lower to mid-eighties. It's going to be a beautiful day to hit the beach. Sunday looks even more mellow. We're talking around two foot surf, sunny to mostly sunny skies, lighter winds, and similar temperatures. The water should be nice and calm. But here's where it gets interesting. Monday is when a system moves in and things pick back up. We're expecting surf heights to jump to two to six feet depending on your location, with two to four foot waves likely from Maryland down through the Outer Banks. Partly sunny skies with showers likely and chances of thunderstorms. South winds will be pushing around fifteen to twenty miles per hour, and that's when we could see rip current risk tick back up. One final note, remember that life-threatening rip currents often set up around groins, jetties, reefs, and piers even on low risk days, so always stay aware of your surroundings when you're in the water. Episode Beach Forecast June 17-22: Mellow Conditions Today, Heat Thursday, Storms Friday, Perfect Weekend Ahead Cover

Beach Forecast June 17-22: Mellow Conditions Today, Heat Thursday, Storms Friday, Perfect Weekend Ahead

Good morning, beach lovers! Here's your surf zone forecast for Wednesday, June 17th through Sunday, June 22nd. Starting with today, conditions are pretty mellow across the board. Most areas are looking at around 2 feet of surf with low rip current risk, though that low risk disclaimer always applies near structures like piers and jetties where dangerous currents can pop up unexpectedly. Water temps are chilly in the upper 60s to lower 70s depending on where you are, so a wetsuit might not be a bad call. The sun's going to be fierce today with a very high UV index, so slather on that sunscreen. Expect mostly sunny skies with just a chance of showers, and highs will range from the upper 70s in Maryland to the mid 80s down in Virginia Beach. Winds will be light, generally from the southeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. Now here's where things get interesting. Thursday is bringing a significant change. The Maryland beaches and Accomack-Northampton areas will see moderate rip current risk, so swimmers need to be extra cautious. Maryland's looking at 3 to 5 foot swell while the Eastern Shore tops out around 2 to 3 feet. Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks will maintain low rip risk but temperatures are climbing into the lower 90s with heat indices pushing up to 102. That's going to feel absolutely brutal on the sand. Southwest winds will pick up to around 20 miles per hour, creating some chop out there. Come Friday, Juneteenth, showers and storms move in across the region. Surf stays relatively small at 2 to 4 feet depending on location, and those storm chances mean outdoor beach time gets a bit dicey. Highs drop slightly into the lower to upper 80s with lighter winds from the west. Saturday looks like a real gem. High pressure settles in bringing sunny skies, light winds, and calm conditions. Surf flattens out to around 2 feet, perfect for families and casual swimmers. Highs in the low to mid 80s make it genuinely pleasant compared to Thursday's scorcher. Wrapping up Sunday, we stay sunny with similar low surf and nice temps in the upper 70s to low 80s. Winds stay light from the west. So here's the takeaway: enjoy today's mellow conditions, prepare for Thursday's heat and stronger rip currents especially in Maryland, ride out the storms Friday, then settle into a gorgeous weekend. And remember, even on low risk days, always respect the ocean and watch for those dangerous currents near structures. Have a fantastic beach week out there!
