E268 Arya Goggin of Skindred on New Music and Releasing Their Biggest Record 20 Years Into Their Career

This week, we're scratching The Itch for a homecoming! Arya Goggin [https://www.instagram.com/aryadred/?hl=en] of Skindred [https://skindred.net/] was our second [https://itchrocks.com/29] ever [https://itchrocks.com/30] interview, back in November 2020. To celebrate 5 years as a podcast, the man who drums on our theme song makes his long overdue return to keep our weekly interview streak going. We've spoken at length about the huge role Skindred plays in The Itch's story, so Arya was the perfect choice. And he brings not only a great memory of his experiences in St. Louis (and our previous conversation), but the amazing story of Skindred's unexpected grassroots ascent to the top of the UK music charts with their most recent album Smile, plus a side project he hopes the world eventually hears, and a surprising percussion instrument that might make an appearance on Skindred's completed ninth album. Arya was one of our first guests, and he's one of our favorites. Enjoy. If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. If you're not in the St. Louis area, you can stream the show from 891thewood.com [https://www.lindenwood.edu/891-the-wood/kclc-hd1/], TuneIn [https://tunein.com/radio/891-The-Wood-s32063/], Radio.net [https://www.radio.net/s/kclc], and OnlineRadioBox [https://onlineradiobox.com/us/kclc/]! E267 The Itch On Tour: Dorothy and Cory Marks

This week, we're scratching The Itch for a homecoming! Itch guests Dorothy [https://dorothyonfire.com/] and her guitarist, our fellow St Louisian Sam Bam Koltun [https://www.instagram.com/sambamkoltun/?hl=en], played at The Hawthorn [https://www.thehawthornstl.com/] with Cory Marks [https://www.corymarks.com/], and The Itch had to be there! After dropping The Itch's Album of the Year, Gifts From the Holy Ghost, in 2022, Dorothy just released her follow up, The Way, which adds a bit of outlaw country flare to her rock stylings. Meanwhile, Sam Bam recently added yet another band to his resume by playing a European tour with Godsmack. Plus, Dan looks on the bright side and people state the obvious to KC. Enjoy. If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. [Short Cuts] The Music Menu

It's our podcast anniversary and this month we're scratching The Itch to celebrate! The Itch Rock Podcast debuted on May 9th, 2020, originally under the name "Rock Matters". What started as a replacement for our radio show when lockdown closed the station has now become a 5-year journey that's taken us across the country, the podcast world, and even into international waters all in the name of rock. Now, 300+ audio offerings (including 100+ artist interviews) later, we're going strong on our longest weekly interview streak to date. We'll be celebrating this month by bringing back some of our favorite guests and seeing many more in concert. To start the party, we're combining two features that were staples of our earlier shows but have become less frequent as we've focused on talking with our favorite artists: Short Cuts and games. This not-quite-a-full-episode bit was recorded shortly after our conversation with John Cooper of Skillet, when Aaron went down a deep, dorky rabbit whole of bands you could find in the kitchen. Enjoy our tastiest Short Cut, dubbed "The Music Menu", and let us know what delicious dishes you would add! E266 Han Mee and Jim Shaw of Hot Milk on Punk Ethos, American Insanity, and the Death of Genre

This week, we're scratching The Itch for honesty! Han Mee and Jim Shaw of Hot Milk [https://hotmilk.co.uk/] join us for a refreshingly candid conversation about their new album Corporation P.O.P [https://hotmilk.lnk.to/CorporationPOP] (out June 27th) and the ideas surrounding it, including shedding an ill-fitting "pop punk" tag, writing quickly to capture the moment, English identity, and American insanity. Plus, a dodgy opening scene, an Anchorman joke, and Dan's family responsibilities strike again. This is a good one. Enjoy. If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. E265 Justin Benlolo of BRKN LOVE on Self-Reflection, Trainwreck Shows, and Translating the Studio to the Stage

This week, we're scratching The Itch to get with The Program [https://linktr.ee/BRKNLOVEMUSIC]! BRKN LOVE [https://www.brkn-love.com/] just dropped an excellent album by that name, and we talked all about it with frontman Justin Benlolo [https://www.instagram.com/justinbenlolo/?hl=en]. We discuss the recording and release rollout differences from their prior records, worrying less about how a studio recording will translate on stage, and how in relationships, we're often the ones hurting ourselves. Then The Itch gets further context about BRKN LOVE's memorable Shiprocked 2024 performance and Justin reveals the album to bury him with. Plus, a surprising genre tag, the allure of Charleston, South Carolina, and the Michael Jackson song that absolutely sucks. Enjoy.
