Romans 6:23 : "For the wages of sin is death…” A clean, binary calculation written in the ancient ink of a ledger. But scripture does not always recount the gruesome details of the broad way that ‘leadeth to perdition‘. Or the way a man's hands begin to shake when he realizes the stranger pouring his bourbon has already traced the patterns left on the blood soaked carpet of a Nob Hill condominium. Frank was right… there are just some places a man can no longer go, OR escape. He thought if he drove fast enough, and far enough away the screaming pleas of a betrayed friend would no longer echo in his mind. But worse than any cold memory, is a warm one— one that wraps her arms around you, and covers you with sweet nothings and kisses that are more deadly than the edge of a razor sharp stiletto. We will find out, betrayals just like the lines in war are always blurred. And in the trunk of that nineteen forty nine Hudson Commodore the pieces of Frank’s terrifying past are fighting to be heard… Stay in the Light, or be Swallowed by the Shadows. THE LOT: The REUNION, the final chapter

There is a distinct, mathematical geometry to damnation. We construct our elaborate fortresses of vanity, convincing ourselves that if we move fast enough, the friction of our speed will burn away the stench of the soil we crawled out from. We believe the dark belongs to us. But the dark is merely an instrument on a cosmic loop, and when the music stops, the ground always demands its deposit back. “He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, and has fallen into the hole which he made. His mischief will return upon his own head, and his violence will descend upon his own crown.” — Psalm 7:15-16 The past, my friends, does not slink quietly into the shadows. No... it lurks like a predator, biding its time in the damp, forgotten corners of the earth until the calculus of vengeance matches the opportunity. And then, with high velocity and cold, clinical violence—it collects what is owed. This is a public episode. Episode THE LOT: REUNION — Chapter Three Cover

THE LOT: REUNION — Chapter Three

The Class of 1979 Twenty-Year Reunion was a collection of middle-aged regrets, some trying to fit back into their varsity jackets and others kicking themselves for not saying or claiming things they should have when they were still young. But there still was enough booze, a solid funk band playing good music, and enough catching up to do that nobody in the room was holding their breath—there was a good ‘vibe’ in the gymnasium. Then a wave of choked and stunned whispers came from the entrance to the gym and moved toward the stage—walking through were Charlie and Clara. Their surreal appearance hit the room like a physical act. They possessed a sharp, albeit pale attractiveness that felt almost like seduction to look at—a stunning, sharp-edged sexuality stripped entirely of any human warmth. Charlie ambled in like the sleek kingpin of real estate he truly was, but his skin, normally always a nice California tan brown, had an unusual translucence to it, making his dark suit look that much darker. And even under the low glare of the colored party lights, his frame seemed unnaturally lighter, younger than people had seen him in years. Beside him, Clara was a stunning vision of pure, pitiless eroticism. She walked through the middle of the court, now a dance floor, like some visage of a dark Madonna—a moving, if not breathing, portrait of seduction. To the staring crowd of aging quarterbacks and former cheerleaders, she was an impossibly intoxicating anomaly. She hadn't aged an hour since graduation night. Her dense, silken raven hair cascaded over her shoulders, catching the low light. The short, tailored jacket hung ever so slightly open over bare breasts and flawless porcelain skin that didn't sweat—the spotlights of the stage only accentuated the tight curves of her hips as her black leather skirt seemed to drink the light. Clara lapped it all up, drinking in the envious, bitter glares of the wives and the sudden, predatory lust of their past-prime husbands. For those in the room who weren't married, the effect was even more devastating—an intoxicating, paralyzing pull that left them completely defenseless… soon they would all be dead. Episode THE LOT: The Reunion — Chapter Two Cover

THE LOT: The Reunion — Chapter Two

“Proverbs, chapter eleven, verse twenty-nine. He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind.“ In 1979, the American dream was playing out on morning TV game shows as Monty Hall would stand before a theater of screaming contestants dressed like fools, offering blind trades. Cash in hand for whatever was hiding behind Door Number One, Two, or Three. A game of casual choices... where nobody ever reads the contract or the consequences of playing—not unlike our cast of players in this little drama. Clara has just left the graduation party kitchen in blood-drenched ruins. Now, her sneakers are leaving a fresh crimson trail behind her. She isn’t just a contestant anymore, looking for a bargain. No, her agency has become something far darker than even she realizes. And as for Charlie and Karen? Well, they, my friends, are not just naked… they are naked to the world. Their fate, as it is with so many, was laid bare long before this reckoning. On a bed, wrapped in sheets, they are completely oblivious that they have become the prize—Clara’s prize behind door number three. They think they got away with a cheap high school betrayal. They have no idea... that Clara’s hand is already closing around the brass handle, and Monty Hall has just left the room. Charlie and Karen have stepped into an unholy, hidden dimension of a game where the rules are written in blood. This is a public episode.
