Jay is back at the beach, which means we get our annual check in with Michael Weddington! At this year’s Jazz Fest in New Orleans, Michael had transcendental experiences at two separate performances and wants to know if anyone else has experienced this before. Song: LA LOM - “Juana La Cubana” We’re nearing mid-summer and Nick is itching to find his summer song. It’s Three for Thursday! Songs: 54 Ultra - “Upside Down” Tune Yards - “Gansta” King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - “Deadstick” Greg shares the news of two incredible concerts that happened this past week. These shows will undoubtably go down in history and have movies about them. Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert with Black Sabbath was an all day celebration with an incredible array of rock and metal artists. This week also marked the first Oasis reunion concert, and by all accounts the show was incredible. Songs: Tool - “Forty Six & 2 (Live)” Oasis - “Acquiesce (Live)”

Jay brings a few picks from The Alt’s mid-year list, “Albums You May Have Missed in 2025.” Most of the records are new to the crew, which makes for a fun first-listen kind of chat. They get into what grabs their ears, what feels familiar, and what influences might be behind these under-the-radar indie and alt rock releases. You can check out the full list at https://www.getalternative.com/albums-you-may-have-missed-in-2025/ [https://www.getalternative.com/albums-you-may-have-missed-in-2025/] Songs: Anxious - “Never Said” acloudyskye - “Shoots” Home is Where - “Artificial Grass” Friend of the show Alex Kline turned 40 this year, and to mark the occasion, Nick took him to see 311 at The Anthem, because nothing says milestone birthday like a throwback alternative rock show. In this Tales From the Concert, Nick runs through the openers, the crowd, the setlist, and wrestles with a complicated truth: maybe 311 isn’t quite as cool as teenage Nick remembers... but they’re still a lot of fun. Songs: quickly, quickly - “Take It From Me” 311 - “Down (Live at The Anthem)” To wrap things up, Greg brings us the latest music news in another edition of Heard It Through the GREGvine. This week: Deerhoof quits Spotify, a Glastonbury act lands in hot water, and Beyoncé gets stuck mid-song when her flying car stunt starts to go sideways — literally. Song: The Velvet Sundown - “Dust on the Wind”

Greg is back to catch us up on his run of shows the last two weeks. The Red Not Chili Peppers had a great show at House of Blues Orlando with Pearl Jam tribute band Given to Fly. Then Greg traveled on to St. Petersburg with The Resilient for a show at Jannus Live to benefit The Reborn Project [https://rebornproject.org/]. It seems like Greg has been saying “man this month has been crazy” a lot lately, but June feels particularly hectic. We’re happy to have him back! Song: Gary Burton (feat. Pat Metheny) - “Falling Grace” On the eve of the release of Bruce Springsteen’s Tracks II: The Lost Albums, Jay would like to celebrate The Boss. The new box set will contain seven full-length and unreleased albums recorded between 1983 and 2018. The albums come out Friday, June 27th, so we only have access to the singles released so far. Jay dives back into Springsteen’s 1984 Born in the U.S.A. and promises more discussion in the episodes to follow about the new release. Songs: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - “Johnny Bye-Bye” Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - “Downbound Train” Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - “I’m Going Down” It’s News with Nick! “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” is scheduled to be released in theaters Oct 24, 2025, and Jay is not planning to watch it. Zak Starkey is out again and Pete Townshend confirms his allegiance with Roger Daltrey in a stream of consciousness that pretty much reveals what went down. Finally, Drake loses a lot gambling. Song: Unknown Mortal Orchestra - “BOYS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WOLVES”

Greg is busy dow in Florida pulling together another Resilient show, so Nick & Jay go it alone this episode… Brian Wilson was a gifted songwriter, musician, singer and producer. His influence is immeasurable. We share some thoughts on the loss of this legend. Song: Beach Boys - “God Only Knows” For the past ten years, Jay & Nick have been writing and recording nearly weekly (along with bassist, Kresimir Tokic) with the intent to release a second Sleepers album. The time has finally come. They discuss the process and play some songs from the new record. You can stream it for free or order it on vinyl over at bandcamp (https://sleepersmd.bandcamp.com/album/sleepers-2 [https://sleepersmd.bandcamp.com/album/sleepers-2]). It’s also available on Apple Music [https://music.apple.com/us/album/sleepers-ii/1820084604] & Spotify [https://open.spotify.com/album/79TuYSQ1v8hZ551SO1XIIU?si=prGJq1MzTfmLqaFh-iYsrw] as well. Songs: Sleepers - “Structural Integrity” Sleepers - “The Mark”

Nick picks up where he left off last week with another “News with Nick.” Have a few thousand dollars sitting around and always wanted to own something that belonged to David Lynch? Here’s an auction [https://www.juliensauctions.com/en/auctions/julien-s-auctions-turner-classic-movies-present-the-david-lynch-collection] just for you! TayTay buys back her records, and Eminem is suing Instagram (Meta). Song: Rival Sons - “Thundering Voices” In recent years, Greg has developed a deeper appreciation for Word of Mouth, Jaco Pastorius’s second solo album. While the record receives mixed reviews—some hearing signs of the personal struggles with addiction and mental health that would later claim Jaco’s life at just 35—Greg has come to believe there's something really special about it. You should give it a few listens and let us know what you think. Songs: Jaco Pastorius - “Crisis” Jaco Pastorius - “Three Views of a Secret” Jaco Pastorius - “Liberty City” Jay remembers Rick Derringer & Sly Stone. Mr. Derringer, who passed at the age of 77, had a decades long career as a guitarist, songwriter, and producer. Stephen Thomas Erlewine said, in Allmusic, “James Brown may have invented funk, but Sly Stone perfected it." Mr. Stone passed last week at the age of 82. Songs: Steely Dan - “Showbiz Kids” Sly & The Family Stone - “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) Live”
