episode My TV Blind Date Was a Weirdo cover

My TV Blind Date Was a Weirdo

Send a message! (Apple Podcasts only) [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2066932/fan_mail/new] In today’s episode I’m recording while I’m on airline standby at home — waiting to see if work calls me in or if I’ll officially be free for the day. Standby life is basically a strange mix of doing nothing and being ready to leave at any moment… which is the perfect time for a chaotic podcast catch-up. I start with a small life update and the story of how I accidentally broke one of the building rules and my neighbor took the blame in front of the landlord (which means I now owe him cookies as a thank-you). Then I give a quick shoutout to a listener from the Star Wars girls community, and I talk about why I genuinely think people should give Star Wars a chance—even if they think it’s “just spaceships and lightsabers.” Since I’m stuck at home during standby on a super sunny day, I also debate whether I should jump rope outside in front of my neighbors and try to practice not caring about what other people think. Easier said than done. I also share an update after my recent trip to the Dominican Republic with my grandma. If you listened to the last episode, you know I got sick during the flight back—and unfortunately my grandma got sick shortly after too, which made me feel incredibly guilty since I was the one who took her on the trip. Luckily she’s feeling better now. I also talk about a rule we learned during flight attendant training when it comes to eating abroad: “peel it, cook it, boil it… or forget it.” From there the episode takes another turn into my latest attempt at becoming a little more “crunchy.” I’ve been trying to buy more local foods, reduce plastic in the kitchen, and slowly replace some of the cheap plastic utensils I bought when I first moved into my apartment. Not in an extreme way—but step by step. Of course that leads into another tangent about tanning, SPF, and self-tanner, because despite spending time in the sun I somehow never actually tan. I also share the story of a self-tanner disaster that happened right before I filmed a TV blind date show. Yes… I was once signed up (without really planning it myself) for a filmed dating show similar to First Dates. I talk about what the experience was like behind the scenes, how long TV productions actually take, and the awkward moment when the cameras zoomed in on my hands—which unfortunately were covered in self-tanner stains. And while the date seemed perfectly fine during filming, things got a lot weirder after the cameras stopped rolling. I explain why I ultimately had to block the guy and why that experience reminded me that just because someone seems nice on camera doesn’t necessarily mean the vibe is right in real life. Later in the episode I talk about a skincare device I recently bought (the Medicube Booster Pro) and the moment a random TikTok comment convinced me it might somehow paralyze my face. Safe to say my confidence in using it daily has dropped significantly. I also share one of my most random unpopular food opinions: when I order pancakes or waffles with berries at a café, I eat the berries first and the pancake afterwards. Apparently that’s controversial. And finally, I give a quick update on my short-lived atte Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2066932/support] Socials: https://www.instagram.com/bllluber/ [https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbkl1MnpjV3hhdDEtOVNELXlsZ25ZNjlNTWw0Z3xBQ3Jtc0tuZ1F4Ylg0T2R1NG1TVFNhcWhnWV9TNVhtTExnVG9ibjF6VUtRM0k3T0RWalFVSXBLSWVBQXhkcTVpakcwa1RyTTl1N0VkVUVLcFNuQmpJRkFjZmhmMnpkOFMzMXVoOThkY2dCMm4zX2QtZEtLS0ViOA&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fbllluber%2F&v=yo3cYVzFw7I] Inquires: me@livia.li

episode Sick At 35,000 Feet cover

Sick At 35,000 Feet

Send a message! (Apple Podcasts only) [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2066932/fan_mail/new] Turbulence isn’t always in the air. Sometimes it hits your body at 3 a.m. while you’re trying to train a new crew member and keep breakfast service on track. I’m sharing the messy truth from a recent red eye: the nausea I tried to outrun, the purser who reminded me to be human, and how a team can hold the line when one person goes down. It’s a window into real flight attendant life—crew bunks, controlled rest, crackers and chamomile—and what it costs to push through when your body says no. That night bled into bigger questions I’ve been facing on the ground. I left a relationship, carried the guilt of walking away, and found my footing in therapy as my family worked through painful loss. Grief still loops, but it no longer decides everything. I talk about rebuilding energy through small routines, the comfort of a home close to the airport even as I dream about moving, and how collecting fridge magnets feels like anchoring memories when schedules refuse to stay still. There’s also a new chapter in love: a partner I met at work, someone who saw me handle chaos at 35,000 feet before we ever planned a date, now home every night as he moves into a different corner of aviation. I’m also taking the show to YouTube, with two vlogs on deck: a Thailand trip with a wild audio-sync problem and a Shanghai story that includes an unexpected car incident. They’re imperfect and honest—just like this conversation. If you’re curious about real cabin crew routines, mental health, relationships that start in the galley, and what it takes to steady yourself after a hard year, you’ll feel at home here. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs some grounded honesty, and leave a quick review to tell me what part stayed with you.
