episode The Foundation of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:7 | Pastor Marty Beamer cover

The Foundation of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:7 | Pastor Marty Beamer

The Foundation of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:7 Where does true knowledge and truth come from? In a world saturated by the philosophy of individual autonomy and consumerism, we often fall into the trap of taking the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and we have become the arbiters of what we think is right. True wisdom does not begin with human introspection or personal autonomy—it begins with God. What is the Fear of the Lord? 1. To Submit to His Rule: True fear goes beyond casual respect or polite reverence. When we look at the raw, staggering power of God, it should conjure an authentic, holy trembling. But unlike the wicked who tremble and run away, this kind of fear brings us to our knees in absolute submission, ready to bow rather than flee. 2. To Covenant with Him Personally: True knowledge isn't about studying an abstract deity; it’s about being personally bound to the Lord in love. When you are in a covenant relationship with Him, obedience stops looking like a rigid checklist and starts flowing naturally out of an all-encompassing, deeply personal relationship. 3. To Treasure Him Above All Else: A fool "despises" wisdom, treating God's guidance like a cheap commodity to be traded away—just like Esau carelessly selling his birthright for a single meal. In stark contrast, fearing the Lord means placing Him on a pedestal, recognizing that there is absolutely nothing in this life more valuable than Christ. Takeaways: 1. Do we submit to the plans of God through Jesus? 2. Do we covenant with God through Jesus in love? 3. Do we treasure God through Jesus? Submit to Him. Be true to the covenant with Him. And treasure Him above all things. This is the foundation of true knowledge and life. episode Promises of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:1–6 | Pastor Marty Beamer | 6/21/26 cover

Promises of Wisdom | Proverbs 1:1–6 | Pastor Marty Beamer | 6/21/26

Purpose: To introduce the promises Proverbs give to those who seek wisdom.  In a world filled with complex decisions and shifting cultural landscapes, how do we truly live faithfully? We often turn to slogans or pithy phrases to guide our choices, but applying biblical truth to the messiness of real life is rarely black-and-white. Where do we turn when we need more than just a motto? In this message delivered at Bethel Baptist Church, Pastor Marty Beamer begins our summer study in the book of Proverbs. He explores how this ancient wisdom literature serves as a guide for us to live as a "kingdom of priests." Rather than striving to obtain righteousness on our own, we discover that wisdom is a gift to be received—a tool for crafting a beautiful, God-honoring life. This sermon explores three vital promises offered through wisdom: Wisdom Promises Understanding: Developing the insight to see the truth behind the complexities of our daily circumstances and the lessons hidden within creation. Wisdom Promises Proper Action: Receiving the virtue necessary to implement righteousness, justice, and equity in any situation we face, allowing us to act with integrity. Wisdom Promises Growth: Maturing through "substitute experiences" that allow us to learn from the wise without having to ruin our lives by personally experiencing every destructive path. Ultimately, this message reminds us that true wisdom is not found in our own intellect or life experience, but in a teachable heart submitted to Jesus Christ—the true wisdom of God. Come to Him, listen to His Word, and find the skill to live faithfully. episode The Mission of the Church Pt. 3 | Matthew 10:11–15 | Pastor Marty Beamer cover

The Mission of the Church Pt. 3 | Matthew 10:11–15 | Pastor Marty Beamer

What does faithfulness actually look like in gospel mission — and how do you keep going when results are nowhere to be seen? In this sermon from Matthew 10:11–15, Pastor Marty Beamer concludes a three-week series on the sending of the twelve with a clarifying call: God is in charge of the results; we are in charge of being faithful. Drawing on the story of Moses — whose early mission looked like failure yet was never out of God's hands — Pastor Marty shows how Jesus equips His disciples not with a success strategy, but with a posture of faithful perseverance. The church does not advance the gospel through performance metrics and headcounts, but through obedience, wisdom, and trust. As Jesus instructs His disciples on who to invest in and how to respond when rejected, He gives His people two final principles for joyful gospel advancement: use wisdom to discern where to invest, and press on in the mission regardless of how people respond. In this sermon, you'll discover: Why faithfulness — not fruitfulness — is the true measure of gospel mission What it means to be "worthy" and how receptivity shapes where we invest Why Jesus tells His disciples to shake the dust from their feet — and what that means for us How the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah illuminates the weight of rejecting the gospel Why the people's response to the gospel is never ultimately your responsibility How to stay on mission when ministry feels discouraging, fruitless, or unclear Scripture References: Matthew 10:11–15 | Genesis 19 | Matthew 7:6 | Exodus 3–6 This sermon is part of our series through the Gospel of Matthew at Bethel Baptist Church in Kansas City. The Mission of the Church Pt 2 | Matthew 10:5-15 | Pastor Marty Beamer

The Mission of the Church Pt 2 | Matthew 10:5-15 | Pastor Marty Beamer What keeps a Christian going when ministry feels exhausting, discouraging, or hopeless? In this sermon from Matthew 10:7–10, Pastor Marty Beamer explains how Jesus calls His church to continue the mission with joy — even in weariness, suffering, anxiety, and spiritual struggle. As Jesus sends out His disciples, He gives them a pattern for faithful ministry: proclaim the kingdom of God, care for people’s needs, and rely completely on God’s provision. This message explores how Christians today can stay faithful in gospel mission without losing heart. In a culture filled with burnout, fear, discouragement, and spiritual confusion, Jesus gives His people hope. The mission of the church is not sustained by human strength, personal success, or perfect circumstances. It is sustained by clinging to the commands of Christ and trusting the God who saves, keeps, and provides. In this sermon, you’ll discover: - Why joyful Christians are a powerful witness to the world - How Jesus combines gospel preaching with compassionate action - What it means to “act as Christ acts” - Why relying on God changes how we approach ministry - How Christians can persevere through suffering and spiritual exhaustion - Why the commands of Christ are meant to sustain us, not crush us

The Mission of the Church Pt. 1 | Matthew 10:1–4 | Pastor Marty Beamer | 5/3/26

Speaker: Pastor Marty Beamer Scripture: Matthew 10:1–4 Title: God's Perfect Plan https://LinkTr.ee/bbckc [https://linktr.ee/bbckc] When establishing His Church, Jesus did not select the elite; He chose the ordinary. In this study of Matthew 10:1–4, we examine the commissioning of the Twelve Apostles—a group of flawed men called to an extraordinary mission. This message highlights three truths: God's sovereign plan... 1) is accomplished through flawed people 2) is derived from the authority of Christ 3) is not thwarted by anyone This sermon serves as a reminder that God does not use the extraordinary to accomplish His plans. He uses ordinary, flawed people. If you are in Christ, you are a vital part of His redemptive work in the world. #Matthew10 #ExpositoryPreaching #God'sPlan #Apostles #ChristianFaith #BethelBaptist

En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
