episode 11: Our journey with anger and aggression cover

11: Our journey with anger and aggression

In this episode you’ll hear me share about the inner work I have done on my parenting journey in relation to anger and aggression, and how it has made big shifts in both my oldest son and I and in our relationship. When my son started hitting, I was challenged to the core. As someone who is practicing Aware Parenting, this brought me face to face with my own conditioning and childhood traumas around anger and aggression. I felt really big feelings and I judged my son. I couldn’t offer him the type of response I wanted. This took me on a journey of inner growth and healing that I’ll be forever grateful for. It also deepened my understanding of what Aware Parenting is about on an embodied level. This episode is a glimpse into what the inner work of reparenting oneself, and the gifts it can bring in terms of healing and transformation for the parent and the child, as well as deeper connection and more secure attachment between them. By sharing about our journey, I hope to inspire and encourage you on your own journey.  SUPPORT If this episode touched you, you might be interested in my workshop on the topic of honoring our Noes in our parenting, in ways that are compassionate and steady. episode 10: Stress and trauma in children - A conversation with Dr. Aletha Solter cover

10: Stress and trauma in children - A conversation with Dr. Aletha Solter

This episode is a conversation with Aletha Solter PhD about the impact of stress and trauma on children. Aletha is the founder of the Aware Parenting approach and the Aware Parenting Institute. In this episode, we go into the ways that children heal, how we can support this innate wisdom in them and why children turn to aggressive behaviors such as hitting. Did you know that children’s aggressive behavior is tied to stress and trauma, and to their attempts to heal from it? If we’re used to responding with judgement and anger, saying things like “Stop! Hitting is not allowed!” or “We don’t hit!” we’re actually getting in the way of what they really need in that situation. But of course, we don't want them to continue hitting. So what to do instead? This is what you’ll learn about in this episode. With Aware Parenting we can support our children to heal from stress and trauma while they are still children, and we can help our children become willing to cooperate without the use of punishments or rewards. This is a different parenting paradigm from the one most parents of today have experienced themselves. Aletha and I acknowledge the inner work that most parents feel called to do in order to practice Aware Parenting and their need for support on that journey. Do you want to learn more and be supported? I (Marthe) support parents in doing their inner (re-parenting) work alongside parenting with Aware Parenting. episode 9: Regulation as alienation cover

9: Regulation as alienation

Hello dear you! In this episode I’m talking about my experience of the words regulation, nervous system regulation and emotional regulation and how they are being used in the public now, - on the internet and social media especially, and why I feel concerned because of it. I talk about: 🌱 What I see as the dangers when words like these are taken out of their (clinical) context, and popularized and used in the marketing of yet another quick way to fix ourselves. 🌱 How our capacity to heal and expand is innate, and that it involves far more than our nervous system. 🌱 How words have the power to maintain a view of ourselves as machines made up of parts instead of an amazingly complex and wise design made by mother nature where everything is connected and where all that we experience has meaning. 🌱 What happens when regulation is used in a way that leads us to believe that there’s something wrong with us, and that we need someone else to teach us techniques to fix what supposedly is a glitch in our nervous system, when really it’s our body’s attempt to initiate and complete a healing process that involves all of us. I hope this episode leaves you feeling empowered and inspired! 💡 If you would like me to answer one of your questions in a future episode, send me an email at marthe@martheschneider.com [marthe@martheschneider.com] 🤝 If you want to work with me, check out my mentoring program at www.martheschneider.com/mentoring [http://www.martheschneider.com/mentoring] I love supporting you to be all that you are, and to free yourself from what’s been holding you back. episode 8: Turning past wounds into Mother-Power! cover

8: Turning past wounds into Mother-Power!

What if your past hurts weren’t a limitation—but a source of mother power? - Difficulty knowing what you want or need - or communicating it - Trouble honoring your limits and standing by them - Self-doubt, self-criticism, and self-devaluation - Feeling frozen, conflicted, or afraid to act These patterns are incredibly common—and they are not personal failures. They are the natural result of growing up in a culture of domination and disconnection. In this episode I untangle these patterns from our true nature as human beings. I explain how healing and repair are possible so that you can blossom and - in your mothering - feel powerful and capable of offering a very different kind of conditioning for your children. ✨ Your past hurts are not in vain. They are a source of great competency and with healing you become powerful because of them. I hope this episode brings you clarity and inspiration! episode 7: Why I love Aware Parenting cover

7: Why I love Aware Parenting

In this episode, I share why Aware Parenting has become one of the most life-enriching foundations of my mothering and my human journey. Rooted in the work of developmental psychologist Aletha Solter PhD, Aware Parenting invites us to see children as innately wise, loving beings who communicate their inner world through behavior — and whose tears, laughter, and expression are powerful ways for them to heal from stress and trauma as they grow. I talk about how this approach beautifully aligns with my background in body-oriented psychotherapy, trauma healing, Nonviolent Communication, and presence-based coaching. I also share how Aware Parenting has helped me understand everyday moments — aggression, sleep struggles, food, boundaries — as invitations for connection rather than problems to fix. And equally, how it keeps inviting me back to my own inner healing, honesty, and authenticity as a mother. This episode is an invitation to remember that when we meet children with trust and loving presence, they return to their natural state of connection, cooperation, and compassion.
