Oh for the Love of God ("The Princess Diaries")

SHUT UP! A miracle has happened in San Francisco, and we’re not just talking about Mia Thermopolis’ hair. This week, we’re diving into THE PRINCESS DIARIES, the Garry Marshall-directed smash hit that introduced the world to Anne Hathaway and reminded us all that Julie Andrews is, in fact, screen royalty. It was the second overall pick in our draft at the start of the year, and Allison came away with Kevin Durant to Slate’s Greg Oden (ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE). (A complete aside not mentioned in our episode: Did you know this was supposed to be Hathaway's SECOND movie? Another 2001 release, THE OTHER SIDE OF HEAVEN, was also distributed by Disney, who held it in hopes that the projected success of this movie would boost that one. It didn't; it made just a little over $4 million worldwide. Allison and Josh met Christopher Gorham, her co-star in that film, at Lexington Comic Con in March 2026!
