Ep #5 The Revenge of the Fans (aka The Fandom Menace)

In this week's episode, Jörg and I focus on how the fandom of Star Wars morphed from a cohesive love of the original series to the modern day divisive mess that the Star Wars extended universe has become. We journey through the special bond the majority of us Gen X kids had in getting together to "play" or better yet reenact scenes from our favorite films (yes we played with the original toys) to the modern day over saturation and uninspired retreads of the "nostalgic" look and feel of the original toys and the refusal to actually have fun with the toys to avoid devaluing the investment. You will hear a recounting of my plan to profit off of Revenge of the Sith toys, running through the aisles of Target, sprinting all around town and trying to schmooze the various employees that worked in receiving at these stores. Never the less, I wound up with a huge amount of toys that no one was remotely interested in while Jörg was profiting off of action figures he was creating my hand. Ep #3 The Phantom Mouse

In this week's episode, Jörg and I discuss the end of the Lucas era and the Rise of Disney and the JJ verse. As you will hear, we both have strong opinions about the direction of the Star Wars extended universe and how Disney opted for a more nostalgic, chaotic take on episodes 7-9, instead of a cohesive, well thought out story structure with a narrative through-line that utilized Lucas's character development mixed with mythological structure. Jörg also helped me realize how I was using nostalgia and the need to relive my life over again, in order to avoid accepting any new calls to adventure. This thought process deepened my depression, which also pushed me further to the dark side, instead of accepting who I am right now and finding my way back towards the Jedi Way! Ep #2 Return of The Myth (Hokey Religions and Ancient Artifacts): Part 2

In the conclusion of Ep #2, Jörg and Marc continue discussing their own personal Hero's Journey, difficult decisions they needed to make, missed call's to adventure that led to dark depression and how your never too old to accept a new call to adventure, no matter how terrified you are. Also, Jörg takes both an insightful and impactful deeper dive into the neo-myth of the Hero's Journey and how Lucas used this road map to help transform the holy trinity of Luke, Leia and Han by the time we see them in Jedi. In addition, how we can use those same mythological tenants to help transform our own personal journey from dark to light.
