Acerca de Addict II Athlete Podcast

The Addict II Athlete podcast is hosted by Coach Blu Robinson, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and substance abuse counselor who has worked in the field since 2001. He is a fantastic public speaker, coach, and therapist who works with many individuals, youth, couples, and families addressing issues like addiction, trauma, communication, parenting, and more. Blu hopes to provide listeners with the skills and game plans for anyone to turn their mess into their message of hope and a bright future. The AIIA podcast is here to inspire anyone. We share recovery stories, education, life tips, address teen and parenting issues, and more. Our topics address all walks of life but also addiction recovery with tips and fundamentals for those seeking recovery as well as the family and friends of someone who is. Addict II Athlete removes the negative stigma of addiction and mental health and creates a foundation of potential and support. Addict to Athlete is a nonprofit team of peers, friends, and family who have a desire to create a new way of life. By knowing an addict, having been affected by addiction, or being in recovery yourselves, Team Addict II Athlete is here to help. We have come together to help one another with the outcome from all angles of addiction using our Erase and Replace Philosophy. Erase negative behaviors by replacing the void left behind with health, service, support system, and recreation. We are here to carry the message of recovery and change the outlook of addiction. Our goal is to spread the message of recovery to the addict and family of the addict who still struggles with addiction and to show that we have discovered a more excellent way to live. Moving from Addict to Athlete, dismisses the old way of thinking that recovery must remain anonymous as you become an Agent of Sobriety and a Champion of recovery. The Gathering Table

Coach Blu is back with a new conversation on Addict to Athlete featuring Brad Waldon and his new business venture partner, Angela. In this episode, they break down what recovery actually looks like when life doesn't slow down: staying steady, making clean choices, and building momentum one day at a time. Brad and Angela join Coach Blu to explore the overlap between recovery, real world responsibility, and progression especially when you're stepping into something new that scares you. They talk about entrepreneurship, how to collaborate without losing yourself, and how to keep your standards high when motivation is low. You'll also hear practical perspectives on food and recovery using nutrition, structure, and simple decisions to support the body while the mind catches up. This episode isn't about pretending addiction never happened. It's about leaving it behind by choosing the next clean action—then repeating it until it becomes your identity. You'll walk away with a valuable resource for the "in-between" moments: the season where you're not fully healed yet, but you're done going backward. What You'll Take Away - A recovery mindset that turns fear into fuel for progression - How to build consistency when life feels unpredictable - Practical insights on food and structure as part of staying on track - Lessons on entrepreneurship from Brad, and partnership + momentum from Angela - A "valuable resource" approach for the gap between where you are and where you want to be Call to Action Show up for yourself today. Choose one clean action, support your body with food that works for you, and keep moving toward the version of you that scares you in the best way. Finding G.O.D. (Group of Drunks) with Boston Bob Balfour

Gas Station Heroin

They don't call it a crisis when it happens behind a gas station until it's somebody's kid, somebody's brother, somebody's "one bad day." This episode goes straight at the reality of Keaton, Feel Free, and 7OH. Heroin and opioid similar substances sold in gas stations: how fast it hooks, how hard it destroys, and why "it's just once" is a trap. And we look at the system: when money changes hands, the government's attention somehow becomes a blind spot. If justice only shows up for the headlines, we're done waiting for permission. This is where accountability meets action, and recovery starts with the truth. Join Coach Blu and Team Addict II Athlete and begin your recovery with a tram behind you! Party in the Back

Coach Blu Robinson takes the mic for a can't-look-away episode of Addict to Athlete with a story that starts as a dream and turns into a full-contact comedy of endurance. In "Party in the Back," Blu joins his co-host, Josh Hansen, to recount his 2023 experience running the Hard Rock Half in Salt Lake City, Utah, a race that served up humorous highs, tragic detours, and the kind of pain you only laugh about after you survive it. From the moment the plan met the course reality, Blu and Josh break down what it felt like to push through when everything hurts, when motivation dips, and when your mind has to work harder than your legs. Expect real talk, laugh-out-loud moments, and the behind-the-scenes perspective of what it means to show up anyway, especially when the day doesn't go according to script. Finding Purpose in Recovery with Cliff McDonald

In this episode of the Addict II Athlete Podcast Coach Blu talks to Cliff McDonald. Cliff's story is a recovery "origin + engine" narrative: he connects the early, hard-won decision to get sober with the ongoing, daily work that keeps him there. The episode frames recovery not as a finish line, but as a lifestyle built through connection, practical support systems, and meaningful contribution to other people. Cliff describes recovery as something he had to build, not something that simply "happened" after a final decision. He shares the personal turning points that brought him from isolation and chaos to stability, then he broadens the focus to what sustained progress actually requires. Chapters 00:00 Introduction to Recovery and Movement 02:52 Cliff's Journey to Recovery 06:08 The Importance of Accessible Care 08:59 The Impact of Alcoholism on Families 12:02 Finding Purpose in Recovery 15:05 The Role of Service in Recovery 17:53 The Struggles of Relapse and Recovery 23:32 Cliff's Struggles with Addiction 29:10 Moments of Clarity and Turning Points 37:11 The Power of Vulnerability and Surrender 44:59 The Hero's Journey in Recovery 51:02 Embracing Multiple Pathways to Recovery Resources Recovery.com - https://recovery.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/cliffmcdonald/ [https://www.linkedin.com/in/cliffmcdonald/] Join Coach Blu and Team Addict II Athlete and begin your recovery with a tram behind you!
