On May 1, 2020, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) published its 21st Century Cures Act final rule in the Federal Register, starting the compliance clock on numerous provisions for developers and organizations that offer certified health IT, healthcare providers, and certain health information networks and health information exchange entities. The information blocking provision and compliance requirements in this rule are of specific interest and concern for the healthcare provider community. The compliance date for this provision is just around the corner - set for November 2, 2020.
