Acerca de Homenum Revelio

In the Harry Potter world, Homenum Revelio is a spell that reveals human presence. In our world, Homenum Revelio is a podcast that uses Harry Potter characters to explore empathy. The world tells us every day that success and happiness come from external places. But what if lasting joy has more to do with finding real connection than with chasing a finish line that's constantly moving? What if there's already magic between us? Each episode will feature one character and a specific role they play (the role might be anything from “student” to “activist” to “partner” etc). Hosts Jeffrey San Gabriel and Mary Ogilvie will share a personal story about the specific role from their own experience or from a guest’s. They’ll dive into a deeper discussion about how the character embodies this role and reflect on their own similarities and differences. After that, they’ll do “Empathy Practice” in which they listen to a passage from the Harry Potter books that shows the character in this role and imagine themselves into the story as the title character. Finally, Jeff and Mary discuss the ways they’ve felt challenged in their practice of empathy. The hope is by practicing empathy with characters from the Harry Potter books, we can all get better at practicing with real people. Jeff and Mary don't have all the answers or all the wisdom - they’re here to practice, too! So make yourself some tea (or whatever you like), pull up a chair, and join them in seeking connection. Because remember, there's magic between us.
