I met Swami Muktidharma at a bus stop on the North Island of New Zealand in 1999. I spent weeks with him at an emerging yoga retreat center that he and his partner were building and in those weeks, we had deep conversations about the mind, our existence, and life itself. He also instructed me in the esoteric practice of Yoga Nidra which has been a hallmark of personal growth for me, and professional assistance to others to address physical, mental, and emotional tensions. Swami Mukti and I have remained friends all these years and it was a wonderful experience to interview him here and to revisit (and update) our conversations about awareness, consciousness and the experience of this life which makes us human.
