345 episodiosEpisode 345: Mike Huff of BEES! (Arcade Rock) [Philly]
Episode 345 features Mike Huff from the Philadelphia band BEES! They’re a self-described arcade rock band, and we’re playing a show together this Saturday (November 8th) at Double Nickel Brewing in New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. We’ll be playing alongside our good friends The Mack Brothers and Naive Nature. This is Mike’s second or third time on the show, and we’ve been fortunate to become friends and play a bunch of shows together over the years. BEES! was one of the first bands to come on the podcast whose music I feel is truly unique and classic in its own way, largely because of Mike’s voice. On this episode, I featured “The Other Day” as well as one of their latest tracks, “If You Ask Me,” which you can stream wherever you listen to music and download from their website (listed below). Epiosde 344: Shea Springer (Sweetfoot Studios) [Easton, MD]
Episode 344 features Shea Springer from Sweetfoot Studios. I've recently been recording with him, and I was eager to bring him on the podcast to share his story. Shea is an absolute blast to work with and is based in Easton, MD. In the interview, we dive into his recording process, his role as an engineer and producer, and how he keeps his business thriving in the modern music industry. We ended up doing two songs with him; one just dropped yesterday, called “Zero Sum.” We also recorded a fun parody titled "Naptown," inspired by Annapolis, Maryland. At the time of this interview, it wasn't out yet, but the music video is out now on YouTube. We filmed it all over the city. Thanks for listening and supporting local musicians! Episode 343: Brendan Lane & LJR (We have a show together Oct 25 @galacticpanther)
Episode 343 features LJR and Brendan Lane, myself, and Felix Nieto. We all got together at Felix Studio (The Hangar Studio) to talk about our upcoming show this Saturday on October 25th at the Galactic Panther in Alexandria, VA. The bill also features You Fool! from Washington, DC. I’ve been trying to put together a show in Alexandria for many years, so it’s exciting to finally find one. It will be on King St which is the downtown area with all the cool bars and restaurants. In the conversation, we talked about Luke and Brendan's approach to being frontmen, and how they individually go about trying to captivate an audience. I last played with Brendan in Austin at SXSW, so it was fun to catch up. Luke will be doing a solo set, so he's been working hard on putting that together. He's also been working hard on TikTok, and trying to get his story across to an audience, so he had a lot to say on that subject. On the episode, I featured "More Time" by LJR and "Acid in My Coffee" by The Hollow Truths. If you’re in the DC area Saturday night, feel free to come hang out. Episode 342: Glencoe (Singer Songwriter) [Michigan]
Episode 342 features Chris Brackney of Glencoe, an indie singer-songwriter from Michigan. I talked to him earlier this year. He explained that his moniker comes from “my grandpa, who was from Scotland and rode his bike through the Glencoe hills.” We discussed his song Chicago in October, which is featured in this episode, as well as some of his musical influences, many of which overlap with my own. We both identify with the punk rock ethos for sure. Hopefully, you enjoy the interview, and I hope you’re doing well. Thanks for listening and for supporting local music. Episode 341: Ben Heemstra (Annapolis, MD) [Funk/Indie] [Videographer/Producer]
Episode 341 features Annapolis musician, producer, and videographer Ben Heemstra. He is also the man behind the lens at Kensington Studio Sessions. In the conversation, we talked about the different creative ventures he has going, as well as his brand-new song "School Pants," which is featured on this episode and which you can find everywhere except Spotify. You can find Ben on Instagram @b.enandtheband, as well as @kensingtonstudiosus and @kensingtonstudiosessions. Thanks for listening and supporting local artists.
