Rickster's Cafe Con Funk (A Tribute to Ricky Powell)

This show is dedicated to my old friend Ricky Powell who passed away Feb. 1st 2021. Ricky is a legendary photographer who captured so many rising stars during hip hop's golden age. Specifically and perhaps his most iconic photographs are of the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC during their 1987 tour together. He has published a number of books featuring his photography, most notably and my personal favorite is "Public Access - Ricky Powell Photography 1985-2005" I had the pleasure of meeting Ricky in 1997 and over the years we shared many good times. He was always quick with a joke, he was charming, he had style that was uniquely his own and while his memory lives on through his work, he will be missed greatly. Rest in peace brother.

It's a title that fits this set well, as there are several contrasting "moods" featured throughout, while still maintaining an overall "party" vibe that is sure to keep you grooving the whole time. A few of the selections here may not be categorically defined as "psychedelic" but what is psychedelic music? How do you define it? Do you need to take drugs to listen to it?
