Over The World is Storytelling
Welcome to the tiny podcast that proves that the world is actually storytelling, based on the book by the same name. Hosted by Ronni Gurwicz, co-author of the book and drinker of a 1000 coffees with strangers, we aim to make the world a better place by sharing stories, all in ten minutes per episode. The book 'The World is Storytelling' is the definitive guide to how sharing stories can be used for social impact and personal growth. Find out more and buy it here: https://linktr.ee/ronnigurwicz. 84. Söderåsen: Oh Dear Oh Deer
Today we're in a snowy Söderåsens [https://www.sverigesnationalparker.se/sv/upptack-nationalparkerna/soderasens-nationalpark] nationalpark for a crunchy ramble down memory lane with the fantastic Keir Quackenbush. Keir takes analogue photographs, throws frisbee golf discs, reads fiction, plays drums, and (was not bribed to say that he) misses the era when Ronni lived in Skåne. He also teaches junior high English. Be in touch with Ronni, with all your ideas and to invite him to perform in more IKEA showrooms. All that here [https://linktr.ee/ronnigurwicz]. Thank you to all our supporters as well as to the amazing band Bukahara for their permission to use their fabulous, on point song 'Storytelling Animal' as our soundtrack. The World is Storytelling podcast is based on the book by the same name. Written by Arjen Barel, Ronni Gurwicz, and Stu Packer, it is the definitive guide to how sharing stories can be used for social impact and personal growth. 83. IKEA Gateshead: Coffee Johnny's Mates & Ridiculous Cabbage Weights
After a winter hibernation, the podcast is back with our appearance at Cabbage Fest 2026 in IKEA Gateshead, and a post performance recording with the fabulous Lucy Zwolinska from the Tyne Derwent Way [https://www.tynederwentway.co.uk/] (sat on a couch on the shop floor). Cabbage Fest would not have happened without the following people and organisations (in no particular order). Lyndsay from IKEA Gateshead [https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/stores/events/ikea-gateshead/swalwell-cabbage-fest--f8d38dc2-d37f-4712-9522-97a3a67e38bf/], Nikki from Gateshead Food Partnership [https://www.gatesheadfoodpartnership.co.uk/about-us], Lesley & Gary from the Gibside Community Farm [https://gibsidecommunityfarm.co.uk/], and all of my wonderful volunteers throughout the performances. We also thank Gateshead Food Partnership for funding this performance and the wider Gateshead Food is Storytelling project. Read more about the Swalwell Cabbage here [http://www.swalwelluk.co.uk/memories.html]. Be in touch with me, with all your ideas and to invite me to perform in more showrooms. 82. YHA Helvelyn: Ullswater Swims Have No Synonyms
We're still in the Lake District, and hunkering down on a wet afternoon at YHA Helvelyn, one of the many youth hostels run by that fantastic organisation. As the rain fell, I sat down with Amy McGuire, one of the amazing staff there. When she isn't in the hills, Amy is a Bicentenary Fellow in Geography at the University of Manchester, and is a passionate advocate of getting outside. Find out more from Amy here [https://amy-mcg.github.io/] and book your next outdoor adventure at a YHA here [https://www.yha.org.uk/]. Be in touch with me, with all your ideas and to help me hike up more hills, comedic or otherwise. All that here [https://linktr.ee/ronnigurwicz]. 81. Cumbria: Falling Into Place On Place Fell
Today I'm in the Lake District with the fabulous Nicole Peters. We ended up on a rainbow soaked, windy hike up Place Fell above Ullswater. Nicole is a Woodland Advisor at Tees Community Forest, where she helps grow new woodlands and connect people with nature across the Tees Valley in North East England. She was part of the team that delivered 70 hectares of new woodland in the forest’s first planting season. When she’s not out in the woods, you’ll find her hiking her way through the Wainwrights or hanging out with her cats, Rufus and Guinness. Nicole is all about making life fun and giving anything a go whether at work or on an adventure. 80. Dublin: Sheds Aren't Cheap & Rusty Looking Sheep
Today we're in County Dublin (and County Wicklow) for a woodland bathe in Coronation Wood, as well as a wet and foggy hike up Kippure. For this jaunt I am joined by the wise Oisín Ó Néill, ex solicitor, gaeilgeoir, and director of the Gaelic Woodland Project. The Gaelic Woodland Project is a Rewilding charity with a dual focus of preserving and enhancing native ecosystems and culture. Oisín is actively campaigning for better regulation in the area of invasive species. In the past year alone he has been involved in successful reforestation and community empowerment initiatives. Read about the Gaelic Woodland Project here [https://gaelicwoodlandproject.com/] and follow them on Instagram here [https://www.instagram.com/gaelicwoodlandproject/].
