HERODOTUS, born in Halicarnassus around the early fifth century B.C., is often hailed as the Father of History. Although little is known about his life, he dedicated himself to extensive travels, gathering stories and insights for his monumental work, which he completed in Thurii, southern Italy, before his death in 424 B.C.
