episode The Art of Prompting cover

The Art of Prompting

Welcome to AI NOW Podcast - Episode 12: The Art of the Prompting! This episode explores the most revolutionary shift in human-computer interaction: prompting. For decades, interacting with computers meant learning their language, but now, the computer is learning to speak ours, and prompting is the way we converse with it. This isn't just a technical skill; it's a new form of literacy. A prompt is like a commission to a genius AI artist, providing instructions to create new content such as text, images, or music. The key to achieving a masterpiece lies in the details of how you craft that prompt. A fantastic framework to guide this process is "Thoughtfully Create Really Excellent Inputs," which stands for the five key parts of a powerful prompt: Task, Context, References, Evaluate, and Iterate. The Task is your main instruction, emphasizing specificity, including defining a persona for the AI and the desired format. Context provides essential background information for a more tailored output. References, also known as "few-shot prompting," allow you to provide examples to guide the AI's tone, style, or structure. After receiving an output, the real magic happens through Evaluate (checking accuracy, tone, and relevance) and Iterate. This is a continuous conversation, not a one-and-done process, and by tweaking details and adding constraints, you guide the AI to the perfect result, embodying the principle of "Always Be Iterating" (ABI). The episode also delves into multimodal prompting, which means using different formats or modalities together, such as text and images, to create richer instructions or to ask the AI to analyze visual information. However, with great power comes responsibility. AI tools have limitations; they can hallucinate (make things up) and perpetuate biases present in their training data. This is why a "human-in-the-loop" approach is non-negotiable. You are the critical thinker and fact-checker, and AI output should never be taken as absolute truth without verification. Responsible use also involves checking company policies on data privacy before inputting sensitive information and always disclosing when AI has been used to generate content. Looking ahead, the episode touches on advanced techniques like prompt chaining, where large projects are broken into a series of linked prompts, and the rise of AI agents—customized personas for various uses. The core idea remains that prompting is a collaboration and a dialogue, bringing your own personality and critical eye to this incredible technology. Prompting is truly the new language for conversing with the future, and for the first time, the future is listening. Thank you for listening to AI NOW. episode AI Agents cover

AI Agents

Welcome back to AI NOW! In this episode, we dive deep intothe world ofAI Agents, exploring these intelligent assistants that are set to revolutionize how we interact with technology.AI agents are autonomous entities designed to perceive their environment, make decisions, and take actions to achieve specific goals. They're not just pre-programmed software; they are sophisticated systems that learn and adapt. We'll explore how AI agents are already impacting variousindustries: Customer service: AI-powered chatbots provide 24/7 personalized support, learning from eachinteraction to better understand customer needs. Healthcare: AI agents assist doctors in diagnosing diseases, analyzing medical images, personalizing treatment plans, and monitoring patients remotely. Finance: AI agents detect fraud, perform algorithmic trading, and manage risk by analyzing vast amounts of data. Manufacturing: AI agents optimize production, predict equipment failures, and manage supply chains, coordinating robots and machines. We also look atautonomous vehicles, which rely on AI agents to navigate roads safely. The episode will also cover the key steps in creating AIagents: Defining the agent's goal Designing the environmentChoosing a learning algorithm (like reinforcement or deep learning)Training the agent with data       Evaluation and refinement through testing We'll also discuss the ethical considerations of AI agents, such as job displacement and bias. The podcast will also delve into theevolution of AIagents, moving beyond chatbots to fully autonomous agents that can set their own goals and execute plans. We are moving towards agents that are “embodied” in physical or virtual worlds.Large Language Models are centralto AI agents, providing them with natural language understanding and reasoning. We discuss howprompt engineering is crucial for guiding agent behavior and enabling learning from mistakes. We'll discuss how agentsare now being developed withlong-term memory, and howreinforcement of learning from human feedback is used to align agent behavior. Frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex, which help build applications with LLMs andconnect LLMs to external data, will be also discussed. Ethical considerations aroundbias, safety, and transparency are also addressed. We will also look at the5-level evolution of AI agentsmoving from generalist AI, subject-matter experts, to autonomous AI agents, AI innovators, and finally to AI-first organizations. The current trend is that AI is moving from co-pilots where humans take action toauto-pilots whereAI agents take action. The future of AI is about agents with the capacity to innovate and that requires building trust through explainability and infrastructure. AI organizations will be capable of wide-ranging action and will be able to self-select which goals are optimal and design a path to getthere. We will cover how AI agents are being used in manufacturing, including howvirtual AI agents enhance digital systems andembodied AI agents equip robots to act in the physical environment. We look at AI’s role in real-time decision-making, near-autonomous systems and seamlesshuman-machine collaboration. While there are challenges, like trust and integrating legacy systems, the potential for AI agents to revolutionize manufacturing is immense. We're at a tipping point, where AI agents are joining theworkforce and transforming how companies operate.
