Saturday, June 5th 2021 - Having started a PodCast Masterclass with Greet Bunnens and Peter Snauwaert a couple of weeks ago, now was the time to start the real thing. In the first session the why was covered: why do you want to podcast and more importantly... what's your why? (for more context do read Simon Sinek's book on this topic: Start with why [https://simonsinek.com/product/start-with-why/]. Problem !!! I like a lot of things and moreover I'm passionate about a couple of things. Which one should I choose??? 1. Tribes - how to redefine human relations in a business world? 2. Digital learning - compare n operating theatre in a hospital 50 years ago and now and you'll see the big difference technology has made, do the same for a classroom and... well, let's say there's room to improve providing education adapted to each student 3. The human cybersecurity dilemma - investing billions in cybersecurity technology and neglecting the human factor is a missed opportunity, resulting in scapegoating the user... the weakest link is.... we should in fact make humans the solution, not the problem. In the first session, we looked at the technical aspects of podcasting: what gear do you need, how do you record, how do you share. Hence I committed myself to buying a good microphone and headphone, and it arrived today. So these next 15 minutes are the result of my first try-out. Some lessons learned: * I did this one in Dutch, but I consider launching my podcasts in English, allowing a broader reach. * I picked one topic (tribes), but I consider using "Allow me to share" as a generic podcast, allowing me to talk around whatever I'm passionate about. * I did the first one alone (because just as a a kid I wanted to unpack and try out my new toy asap), but I would like a mix of solo and interview style podcasts. * I didn't prepare anything, so it's just me rambling unstructured for 15 minutes, with the occasional "huh" in between, trying to figure out what I'd like to add next. I do think for my solo podcasts, I will need some "mind map" alike preparation, to get some structure in it. * I seem to have a repetitive word in Dutch which is "eigenlijk". Not sure where that comes from. * I'm keeping this one to remind me how it started and what I learnt from it. * I haven't video edited anything. The intro music is actually me playing a bit of guitar (and then being stuck with guitar on my lap until the end of the recording). The outro music I completely forgot. I hope you enjoy this first try and welcome any feedback! Thank you for taking the time to listen. If there is anything I can help with, feel free to reach out! Have a wonderful day!
