Episode 82 - Archery Development, Philosophy & Balancing Priorities With World Champion Ian Edwards

Welcome to Episode 82 where I'm joined by sculptor, World Archery world 3D longbow champion and now philosopher, Ian Edwards. We talked for almost 2 and a half hours about Ian's recent sharing of his philosophies, his preparation to defend his world title and how how balancing work, archery and family commitments means that he will have to miss out on this years Lancaster Archery Classic. We also talked about the work that he is doing with the Archery GB 3D Squad, organising seminars with leaders in their fields and training days which are not only open to squad members, but to members of any of the other main archery governing bodies who want to improve their skillset. This helps to raise funds for the squad members to travel to and compete in international events, because like many other international archers from around the globe, the national squad for 3D & field archery are primarily self funded. Welcome to Episode 80, where I'm privileged to be joined by Danish barebow sensation Oliver Øchkenholt. Oliver is a national and international champion who came to competitive shooting from a background of bow hunting. We discussed his introduction to archery, creating a work/life/archery balance, the cost of competitive archery at an elite level and sponsorship/funding. We also talked about additional ways that he funds his travel and entry costs for international tournaments and his vision for making archery a more spectator friendly sport for non-archers to reach a wider audience. I also broached the subject that at the very top levels of archery where television and livestreams are involved, should the archers look like "athletes" to give a better perception of the sport to non-archery viewers? We started our day with a hike up a windy, wet and cold  Wrekin in Shropshire, which turned out to be eventful as there was a man unconscious and verging on hypothermia at the summit. Episode 78 - Hunting In Montana With Joel Turner & Dylan Drego With Special Guest Dylan Drego

Welcome to Episode 78. In this episode I'm joined by special guest Dylan Drego, who I was honoured to spend a week with in Montana at the start of November, hunting with Joel Turner. It was such an incredible adventure and I'm not ashamed to admit that I got a little emotional during the recording as we reminisced about our experiences in this beautiful state. We go through the highs, the lows, the laughs, the frustrations and the lessons learned.
