Watch and Pray

Jesus warned His disciples in Matthew 26 to “keep watch and pray” so that they would not fall into temptation. In today’s world, there is temptation all around us. If we want to stay alert and awake we must keep watch and pray. Always be on the lookout for the schemes of the devil, and make sure you are armed with the Armor of God so that when temptation comes, when worry comes, when sickness comes – you will be able to stand your ground. We must remain in a constant state of watching and praying, and we can only do that by keeping our eyes on Jesus, who is the Word. Pray in the Spirit, meditate on Scripture, go to church, stop sinning, and remain awake and alert so that you may stand firm until the end. FAITH IN ACTION: HEBREWS 11

Modern Christianity has us feeling like we don’t have to do anything. “Jesus did all the work, so I don’t have to do anything!” While, yes, this is true when it comes to our salvation (we can do nothing to earn it), it doesn’t mean we as Christians just sit around like a bunch of lazy bums and do nothing for the rest of our lives! God gave us all gifts, and it’s up to us to use our gifts with the time that He gave us here on this earth to advance His Kingdom. It all starts with being born again, but once we are born again, that’s when the real work begins! We are called not just to have faith, but to put our faith to action for “faith without action is dead.” So, I guess the question is: what are you doing with what God has given you to bring people to Him before He returns? We should all be doing something. The “Faith Giants” in Hebrews 11 weren’t just commended for how great their faith was – they were commended because of what they DID with their faith. The Prayer of Faith

Don't give up praying. You may be praying for something, and maybe you've been praying for a long time -- don't give up. Jesus encouraged His disciples in Luke 18 not to give up on what they were praying for. It may take days, it may take weeks, it may take months or years -- but if you pray for anything according to God's Will, it will be done, and it will be done in HIS perfect timing. The prayer of faith is powerful and effective. Don't lose hope, and don't lose faith.
