Wes Harper was born on February 22, 1970, in Washington D.C., and grew up in rural Northern Virginia, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors through camping, fishing, and hunting. At 26, he founded LightWire, Inc., an IT company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, which he still owns and operates today, serving clients worldwide. Wes lives with his wife Molly at Lake Gaston, N.C., and together they have five grown children. A lifelong outdoorsman, Wes became fascinated with Naked and Afraid when it first aired in 2013. In 2017, after teasing contestants from his couch, his wife secretly signed him up for the show — leading to a life-changing adventure that brought his survival skills to national TV.
