(Don't worry we aren't actually singing) Elf the Musical is the musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Holiday film Elf staring Will Farrel. The Broadway musical ran for two holiday seasons and now plays all over the country each year with multiple national tours, countless regional productions, and in schools and community theatres. Dynamic Duos: A Triple Show Casting

The best things in life come in twos...and threes! We are so pumped about sharing these 3 incredible shows with you, and talking about the duos that make these stories come to life! This episode we talk casting for some of our favorite shows that really highlight two specific characters. The Last Five Years is a musical written by J [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Robert_Brown]ason Robert Brown that premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was then produced Off-Broadway in March 2002. Since then it has had numerous productions both in the United States and internationally. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect. Side Show is a musical by Bill Russell and Henry Krieger based on the lives of Daisy and Violet Hinton, conjoined twins, who became famous stage performers in the 1930s. The musical opened on Broadway on October 16, 1997. Despite receiving some positive reviews, the show closed after 91 performances. A Broadway revival opened in November 2014, and closed after 56 performances. Dogfight is a musical with music and lyrics by Pasek and Paul and a book by Peter Duchan. It is an adaptation of the 1991 film of the same name. The musical premiered Off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theatre in 2012. In August 2014, the musical had its European premiere in London. Sugar, Butter, Dreamcast

Sugar, butter, flour, and a dang good musical! If you aren't familiar with Waitress, stop what you're doing right now and go listen to the cast album! With music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, the hit musical is based on the 2007 movie by the same name. The original cast was lead by Jessie Mueller as Jenna, a waitress who has dreams of a life better than the one she was given. When she finds herself pregnant, she bakes up a plan to leave her abusive husband, but falls into a messy affair with her doctor. Waitress has had two successful national tours, a Broadway run, a Broadway re-boot post COVID shutdown, and a successful West End residency and UK and Ireland tour.   As always, send us your dreamcasts, we love to hear your ideas! It's a Miscast Show, For Us!

Everyone knows the adorable, spunky, little red-headed orphan Annie, but what if we mixed up that story? In today's episode we've explored a miscast! A miscast is when actors portray roles that they aren't actually right for, or would never play in a conventional telling of the story.  We had so much fun casting the musical Annie with some age and gender-bent roles!  Annie is a musical with a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Straus, and lyrics by Martin Charnin.  The musical premiered on Broadway on August 10th 1976.
