I'm Dr. Adam McCall, a family physician practicing old school medicine in a modern world. This podcast is about truth over trends, relationships over algorithms, and common sense over noise. We'll talk about real medicine, bad medical advice, faith at the bedside, fatherhood, and what I've learned from thousands of patient visits. These are conversations you'd have if a country doctor pulled up a chair on your front porch and told you the truth with clarity and care. No hype. No shortcuts. Just honest medicine for real life.

Episode 9: Who Moved My Cheese? - Change, Fear, and the Courage to Move

In this episode of Country Doctor: Housecalls, I come back after a two week pause and talk about something we all run into sooner or later - change. Using the simple story from Who Moved My Cheese? as a jumping off point, I walk through why change can feel so threatening, even when it is ultimately good for us. We talk about the fear that shows up when the familiar disappears, why our brains treat uncertainty like danger, and how stress from transition can spill over into sleep, mood, motivation, and even physical symptoms. I also bring it down to real life. Changing jobs when the old routine feels safe but the situation is draining you. Changing towns when you are not just moving addresses but leaving a whole identity and community behind. I share the patterns I see over and over - denial, anger, freezing, and adaptation - and how to take small steps forward without pretending it is easy or forcing yourself to be fearless. And at the end, I keep it personal. I share a simple example of change from my own life - how even a small break in rhythm can start whispering fear and perfectionism, and how the answer is usually the same: show up anyway, be faithful, and move. If you are in a season where your “cheese” got moved, this one is for you.

Episode 8: Not Perfect, Still Present - A Conversation About Fatherhood

Fatherhood carries a quiet weight most dads never say out loud. The guilt after a hard moment, the fear of falling short, and the pressure to get it right while balancing work, responsibility, and exhaustion. In this episode of Country Doctor House calls, we talk honestly about messing up as dads and why perfection has never been the goal. We explore the power of daily deposits in our children’s lives, even when all we have to give is a penny’s worth of time. We also reflect on honoring our own parents by recognizing how hard they worked, learning from where they struggled, and choosing to do better not out of pride, but out of gratitude. This episode is an encouragement to re-engage, to own mistakes, and to keep showing up for the people who matter most.

episode Episode 6: The Long Way Here cover

Episode 6: The Long Way Here

In this episode, I share my story. Not the polished version, but the honest one. From knowing I wanted to be a doctor as a child, to the moments when that calling was tested, reshaped, and refined. We talk about failure, grief, marriage, and the quiet realizations that come with time. About the loss that changed how I practice medicine. About choosing family over titles. About building a life and a practice rooted in presence rather than productivity. This episode is about why my voice matters now and why Country Doctor: House Calls exists. It is about restoring what has been lost in medicine and in our conversations. Presence. Responsibility. Truth. If you have ever felt successful but unsettled, faithful but stretched, or certain that something deeper is being asked of you, this episode is for you.

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
