Today we are joined LIVE by former Independent Fundamental Baptist Eric, of the show @preacherboys, to discuss the Bible Baptist Church. It has a decades-long history of hiring, supporting, and protecting individuals credibly accused or convicted of sexual abuse and other serious crimes, especially against children. The church’s leadership, particularly Pastor Doug Duffett, has repeatedly minimized, concealed, or excused offenses, often blaming victims and discouraging transparency or outside intervention.  We will dive into the list of notable abusers and church response, the institutional cover-up Tactics, the sermon excerpts illustrating leadership attitude, as well as the key examples of abuse and the institutional response. At Grenville Christian College, once one of Canada’s most prestigious private religious schools, the result was thousands of broken lives.  Once ranked amongst Canada’s elite boarding schools, the impressive facade hid a far darker truth. Just three years after its opening, the college fell prey to the “Mothers” — leaders of a Cape Cod commune that would turn GCC into an institution of paranoia that brainwashed, abused, and terrorized its residents for decades. Staff and students alike were forced into terrifying “light sessions” where they were publicly attacked for their sins. Cruel punishments that demoralized and demeaned were commonplace, keeping residents captive to their shame — by a cult that was hidden in plain sight. The first “staff kid” to be born at GCC, Beth Granger was removed from her parents’ care at the age of 4, because they were deemed too sinful to raise her. When she was only 5, the leaders declared war on Beth’s “sin” of gluttony.  It would take her three decades to muster the courage to escape. Louise Roberts grew up in a strict LDS (Mormon) household where the messages of apostles’ quotes would echo throughout. One of them being “if you are ever in a position to be r*ped, ask to be k*lled.” Her mother was not aware that she had already been h*rmed as a chiId. This led to feelings of worthlessness and shame which had her seeking love and acceptance from boys in her school.
