Discovering Joy Through Service with Mary Newsome

Mary Newsome has been in public education for the past 15 years leading in all aspects of education: the classroom, school level and district level. As a former "Teacher of the Year" and two time "Assistant Principal of the Year", her niche is in coaching and inspiring teachers/school leaders to challenge the status quo. With a passion to help schools create a climate based upon high expectations, relationships and "no excuses", she inspires leadership teams to make changes and take risks. She believes in public education and that all students can and will achieve success within their community schools. Mary has presented at both the state and national level. She has led numerous school-turnaround projects. Over the past few years, she has been recognized for her accomplishments at both the elementary, middle and high school levels. Her ability to inspire and rejuvenate the soul of educators has led to significant changes in many of our public schools. Mary is the author of the social and emotional curriculum TRIBE, a program designed to give hope to our middle and high school teens who face mental health illnesses. Mary also felt called to reach mid-aged women. She recently launched "The Purple Jaguar" which is a supportive facebook community centered around emotional health, self respect, self care, fashion and healthy lifestyles. All in all, her greatest joy comes from her family. Mary is a mother of two young girls, four and two years old and has been married to her husband, Blaine for nine years. Her daily goal in life is to live each daily fully in the presence of God and love on those around her.
