Members Reviews: Fun book to read Fun book to read. Short enough that I read it on the beach in a day... although it made me non-social but I was sucked in!! Perfect book for a flight! This was a fun, quick read that kept me entertained and laughing on a 6 hour flight from NY to LA! Would be a great summer beach book, or for those winter days when you just want to curl up with a light read. This is a page-turner, for sure! A fun mystery with a lot of psychological insight Initially didn't want to read this mystery because it focused on a child's death...but found this story more about the character and her journey through life's trials & tribulations. A fun mystery with a lot of psychological insight! Five Stars Absolutely riveting. I hope there is a sequel. A Pocket Dial to Remember Book Description "Are you scared now, Tommy?" After two failed marriages, Jennifer has finally found her happy ending with Dylan Jagger. Young, handsome, and sensitive, Dylan is everything Jennifer has ever dreamed of...until the day that an untimely pocket-dial causes her to overhear Dylan roughhousing with a child. When the child turns up dead, Jennifer is swept into a web of lies, mistrust, and the greatest moral dilemma of her life: should she stay silent, or betray her new-found love by telling the police what she heard? My Thoughts This was an enjoyable book and was perfect vacation reading. I had never heard of this author, but the book title caught my eye. Who hasnât inadvertently made or received a call due to a pocket dial? Kudos to the author for writing an interesting and engaging story with characters that made me care what would happen next. I am a no spoiler type person, so if the book description intrigues you, I would suggest you give this author a try. I received a digital copy of Pocket Dial in exchange for an honest review.

Death in August Audiobook by Marco Vichi, Stephen Sartarelli - translation

Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/audiobook/8/ [https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/audiobook/8/] to download full audiobooks of your choice for free. Title: Death in August Subtitle: Inspector Bordelli, Book 1 Author: Marco Vichi, Stephen Sartarelli - translation Narrator: Tim Bruce Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 27 mins Language: English Release date: 01-15-18 Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Crime fiction packed with Italian flavour, Death in August is the first Inspector Bordelli mystery set in 1960s' Florence - perfect for fans of Andrea Camilleri or Donna Leon. Florence, summer 1963. Inspector Bordelli is one of the few policemen left in the deserted city. He spends his days on routine work and his nights tormented by the heat and mosquitoes. Suddenly one night, a telephone call gives him a new sense of purpose: the suspected death of a wealthy Signora. Bordelli rushes to her hilltop villa and picks the locks. The old woman is lying on her bed - apparently killed by an asthma attack, though her medicine has been left untouched. With the help of his young protégé, the victim's eccentric brother and a semiretired petty thief, the inspector begins a murder investigation. Each suspect has a solid alibi, but there is something that doesn't quite add up.... Members Reviews: A murder mystery in the grand tradition A wonderful whodunnit chock full of quirky characters, unexpected twists-and-turns, and the richness of Italy's landscape, culture, and cuisine. It reads fast and keeps one's interest. A nice book An Italian crime book. The protagonists are the weather, extremely hot, the loneliness of the police inspector who has some friends. All these friends are lonely too. The story is not really important. The thoughts of the police man are. These thoughts are about the people in the story and people from earlier days. A central place in the book is the fantastic diner the police inspector has organized for his lonely friends. Among these friends are some small criminals, an aristocratic inventor, an old police doctor, a young Sardinian police inspector. And it is terrible hot, suffocating hot. Such a strange but impelling story. I don't know why I read this story avidly. It is very atmospheric-the heat is the principal character. The police officer is not terribly likable, though I heartily approve of his attitude to some of his criminal friends. In fact all his friends are unusual. The war stories seemed likely so true. I don't usually like stories of people who seem trapped in a kind of basic unhappiness. This is a horrible review. Sorry. The Introspective Detective I enjoyed Death in Sardinia, the latest in the series, so went back to this first Inspector Bordelli mystery. It's a good read. Bordelli is a unique character. His unorthodox procedures and flashbacks to Resistance days create a refreshing dimension to the typical police character. Bordelli's friends are an equally interesting set of colorful characters. I was happy to meet them here as I liked them very much in the latest book.. The story overall is moderately paced but held my interest throughout. The "solution" is clever and the ending satisfying. I've become a Bordelli fan and look forward to reading the other books in the series. Good Mystery with local color Good tale with local color - an enjoyable read and a good mystery.

Title: Lemonade and Lies Author: Agatha Frost Narrator: Jilly Bond Format: Unabridged Length: 4 hrs and 22 mins Language: English Release date: 12-21-17 Publisher: Whole Story Quest Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 4 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: When the entire village is invited to a garden party for a mysterious announcement, nobody expects it to end with a man being thrown to his death. In a race against the clock, Julia must juggle her blossoming romance with DI Brown whilst interpreting her lodger's strange behaviour to uncover the truth behind the untimely death. With members of her family in the frame, will Julia like what she discovers? Members Reviews: A cosy crime book that dissapoints Is there anything you would change about this book? The dislocated plot needs work Has Lemonade and Lies put you off other books in this genre? Yes Would you be willing to try another one of Jilly Bonds performances? Jill Bond has been good in the past - so I might, but a couple of the characters voices were so silly/distractin that I would think twice about it Could you see Lemonade and Lies being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be? No Any additional comments? It could have been interesting, but reading and dislocated plot makes it difficult to recommend Easy listening Very enjoyable, a pleasure listen to and a good plot, waiting for the next book please.

Die Trying Audiobook by Lee Child

Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/audiobook/8/ [https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/audiobook/8/] to download full audiobooks of your choice for free. Title: Die Trying Subtitle: Jack Reacher, Book 2 Author: Lee Child Narrator: Jeff Harding Format: Unabridged Length: 15 hrs and 54 mins Language: English Release date: 11-09-17 Publisher: Random House Audiobooks Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 5 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Random House presents the audiobook edition of Die Trying by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding. Jack Reacher, alone, strolling nowhere. A Chicago street in bright sunshine. A young woman, struggling on crutches. He offers her a steadying arm. And turns to see a handgun aimed at his stomach. Chained in a dark van racing across America, Reacher doesn't know why they've been kidnapped. The woman claims to be FBI. She's certainly tough enough. But at their remote destination, will raw courage be enough to overcome the hopeless odds? Members Reviews: Not a favourite Enjoyed this romp of an adventure. Struggled at times with the narration style, in particular found 'He said / She said' very irritating. simply brilliant loved it top book same usual high standard from this genius series can't wait to listen to the rest Non stop Keeps twisting and keeps your attention throughout. Engaging plot and well thought out characters with gripping scenes. loved it excellent I was totally blown away thoroughly enjoyed it didn't want to get to the end Ridiculous plot There are so many holes in this plot, it's hard to know where to begin! The kidnappers think nothing of killing the owner of the car they are stealing but don't kill Jack Reacher who just happens to get caught up in the kidnap! To them, he would have been even less important than the car owner and they would have killed him almost immediately. Bad guys point guns at him countless times - but they never pull the trigger - despite slicing up FBI agents and their own gang members... Also, it would be almost impossible to group shots with a Barrett rifle at 1000 yards without having first 'zeroed in' the scope with the shooter's eye. At least three practice shots would be required before that grouping could be achieved. Once zeroed in for one shooter, the gun would not shoot accurately for another, unless the eye characteristics were the same, which is extremely unlikely. Also, why answer the radio when it becomes clear the bad guy only wants to use it to make his demands? If he can't make them, he has no lever. The FBI agents and Military personnel came across as rank amateurs. Storming the bad guys' fortress in city suits and shoes with a hand gun and no back up? Really? As for the kidnap victim also being the President's god-daughter - please...
