Les mer En-abled to be BRAVE

Hi friends! My name is Gugu Nkosi, I have been living with a disability for almost 8 years now and I created “En-abled to be BRAVE” to find my community of others living with disabilities. I want to create a safe space where we can talk about the challenges we face,self- acceptance, how we can better ourselves and equip ourselves to function as our highest selves despite the “hindrances “ which may get in the way of everyday life. Tune in every week as I discuss topics which are relevant to this way of life . Love y’all loads.

Active wheelchair vs a standard wheelchair? What’s the big deal here

This isn’t a full episode, but I had to take a moment to address some of the questions I’ve been getting about my BackaBuddy campaign and why I need an active wheelchair. Why can’t I just get one from the government? Why doesn’t medical aid cover it? And what’s the real difference between a standard wheelchair and an active one? Let’s talk about it. Don’t forget, interview episode with Tatum is still coming! In the meantime, listen, share, and help spread awareness. And if you’d like to support my journey to getting an active wheelchair, check out my BackaBuddy campaign. 🔗 Listen now on all podcast platforms! 🔗 Support my campaign: Follow me on Instagram @enabledtobebrave for more updates

#Journal entry: My experiences with accessibility, mental health and my objectives for this podcast

Hi Guys, I’m so glad you could join me again. Welcome back , I’m going solo on this weeks episode . I will start having interviews from next month . So in this episode , I talk, how disabihas affected my mental health, my experiences with accessibility and my objections with this podcast. Mental health is a tricky one and very broad, what I may deem was really heavy for me throughout my journey of being disabled may not be what was difficult or challenging for the next person. These are just my views, I haven’t started my journey in therapy as yet and I will do so once I have resources and access to do it. For now this is my point of view based on my own self awareness and reflection and I hope it will make sense. South Africa is not the most accessible place to live in if you have a mobility impairment, there are positive things to note in some spaces but I think the reason why I wanted to discuss accessibility in this episode was seeing just how much it was a culture shock to me and how it’s affected me socially and my outlook when it comes to being out and about. Accessibility is so important when living with a mobility impairment and I hope this episode will be heard in rooms where this topic can be taken seriously. Thank you again for the tremendous support. Let’s keep listening and let’s keep being brave !! keep the conversation going on @enabledtobebrave on instagram or you can email on enabledtobebrave@gmail.com xx

Journal Entry: What led me to my disability, my journey navigating disability and why this podcast!

In this episode, I introduce myself to you guys. Who I am, how I acquired my disability. How it’s affected me, the ways it’s affected me and how I have struggled making peace with it. It’s been 8 years to get to this point where I’m “comfortable and willing “ to talk about it. * Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on disability, I’m just a person that has lived through it and is still being affected by it. I just want to find my community, create a platform for other disabled persons to talk about their challenges caused by living with a disability and also on the flip side the triumphs and achievements they have experienced. I want to educate myself through this platform, educate others as well and build great connections through this journey! * So please join me as I discuss issues in and around disability, it’s effects and all that you don’t know and also listen in as I demystify thoughts around disability and disabled people. My end goal with this podcast is to enable myself to be brave despite living with a disability!! Have any thoughts or stories you’d like to share with me? Email me at enabledtobebrave@gmail.com, I would so love to hear your thoughts and how disability has affected you. To continue the conversation, connect with me on @enabledtobebrave on instagram!!

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
