Can You Train Yourself to Handle Suffering? S1E4 - Chris Fennell

Chris Fennell is a sport scientist, former elite time triallist, and now he’s trying to make the jump into professional triathlon. In this conversation, we talk about his identity as an athlete and academic, the move from cycling into triathlon, and what it takes to pursue something properly when you know there’s no guarantee it will work. Chris has won 11 National Time Trial titles across 10, 25, 50 and 100 miles. He has stood on 22 UK National TT podiums. He has ridden 25 miles in 44 minutes and 10 seconds — the second fastest time ever recorded in the UK. But very little of that comes up naturally in the conversation. Instead, we talk about: * suffering with purpose * self-coaching * training by feel vs data * why he rarely used heart rate * the Sub7 project and his move into triathlon * trying to become a professional triathlete * sport science, anti-doping and performance-enhancing substances * the ethics of clean sport and the Enhanced Games * why enjoying the process matters more than motivation Chris speaks about elite performance in a very understated way. No big speeches. No shortcuts. Just focus, patience, and years of doing the work. 🎙 Humans Being — conversations with people and the experiences that shaped them.

S1E2 - Can Discipline help you in any situation (a photographer's point of view)

John and I met on a shoot in Las Vegas in 2022. What stood out to me wasn’t anything dramatic… it was how steady he was.No panic. No ego.Just quiet competence. He’s shot riots, had machine guns pointed at him in Tunisia, and worked with politicians, global brands, and everyday people — all with the same level of care. But what’s interesting is that he didn’t study photography. He built it the hard way. Through mistakes, pressure, and learning on the job.In this episode, we talk about:- Imposter syndrome- Discipline and resilience- Problem solving under pressure- Why consistency matters more than talentThis isn’t really a conversation about photography. It’s about how you get good at something… without shouting about it.—🎙 Humans Being — conversations with ordinary people doing things their own way.If you enjoyed this episode, feel free to share it with someone who might like it too.

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
