Do Christians have to believe that every other religion has gotten it completely wrong? We discuss some of the other major world religions including Pantheism vs. Christianity, and what Lewis had to say on the subject. One of Lewis' most famous quotes comes from this chapter when he discusses the idea of an "unjust" vs. "just" universe.
We finish our discussion on Chapter Five of Book One: We Have Cause to Be Uneasy. Lewis continues to address his critics that say he "tricked" them into a discussion about Christianity, which he explains he did not. He never even mentioned the God of the Bible up to this point, and in fact has just been addressing the reality of the world around us and where that leads.
Book One - Chapter Five: We Have Cause to Be Uneasy - Chapter Five begins addressing the objections by some who were happy to listen to Lewis as long as they felt he was talking about something new, but quick to dismiss him when he brought up the subject of God. Lewis assured them he wasn't trying to trick them, and up to this point hadn't used the Bible or any church teaching at all. He had simply used the reality of life around us. He also discusses the idea of everyone wanting progress, but if we are on the wrong path to get there, contining down the wrong path is only leading us further away from where we want to go. We discuss these ideas and being so committed to an idea that no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise.
Join Byron, Brandon and Jared as we continue through Chapter Four of Mere Christianity. In Part Two we take a look at the final three paragraphs of the chapter, and what can we learn about man given the fact that we are men. Does the universe just happen to be, or is there a reason for it? What lies behind the Law of Nature that we have been discussing the last few weeks? If something exists behind this Law, what is it like?
Jared, Brandon and Byron continue their paragraph by paragraph breakdown of C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. Tonight we take a look at the 1st half of Chapter Four: What Lies Behind the Law. We discuss the two major explanations for the universe and this law of nature: Materialist & Religious. We discuss the role of science in explaining the way that things are and can science explain the universe? We discuss science as the official religion of atheism and the similarities between religion and science.
