Les mer On the Back Burner Podcast

On the Back Burner Podcast continues to evolve. What began as a way to highlight creatives featured in Digital Wolf Magazine and promote events at The Native Nook Art Gallery has grown into something more fluid and personal. Now, it’s a platform for topics I’m genuinely passionate about, creative marketing, design, project planning, business organization, and all things related to Digital Wolf.It remains a space to explore the creative process, share insight, celebrate individuality and, when the vibe is right, spotlight local music and unscripted moments like Burning Notes. It's not about hosting perfectly polished interviews. It’s about giving people a space to be heard and connect through creativity. There’s no host, no flashy setup—just a stripped-down studio with solid acoustics, a casual vibe, and real energy. Each session runs 10–30 minutes and features an artist performing their original work. They introduce themselves, talk about the pieces they're playing, and share anything else they feel in the moment. It’s unscripted, personal, and all about the music. No pressure for conversation—just a space to create and be heard. At the end, artists can let listeners know where to find their music, follow them online, or book them for future shows.New sessions drop occasionally, so tune in and experience it as it happens.

episode 4E05 Burning Notes with Luna Worldcast cover

4E05 Burning Notes with Luna Worldcast

The first time I saw Taylor Cory, better known as Luna Worldcast, she was about to go on stage at Putt’s Bar & Grill in Rochester, sharing a bill with our mutual friend and musician Hunter Wainscott. The moment felt like a full-circle kind of thing—we’d been following each other’s creative paths without ever realizing just how aligned they were. When I found out she’d be opening for The Why Store at Bonus Pints, I knew we had to get her in the studio. Lucky for us, the timing lined up perfectly. On July 25th, right between our birthdays—two fiery Leos—she lit up the room at Digital Wolf Studio for her Burning Notes session. Taylor is the first female artist to take part in Burning Notes, and she brought a presence that felt sacred. There’s something about her sound—somewhere between Sierra Ferrell and Eilen Jewell—that expands beyond the walls, like it’s meant to be heard out in the wild, under open skies. Each time she hits the pocket, her voice carries a soulful weight, full of longing, truth, and grit. It’s not just music—it’s a reckoning. She plays a Breedlove guitar, and you can tell it’s not just her instrument—it’s part of her voice, her storytelling. Her husband Hunter joined us for the session, and that shared creative space felt intimate and electric. As each Burning Notes session closes, sage from the studio garden is burned—smoke rising in gratitude, cleansing the air, and sealing the moment. That day, it carried something extra—something fierce, feminine, and free. Taylor writes and sings about the people who’ve lifted her up, who’ve shaped her, inspired her. And in doing so, she empowers others—especially women like us, carving our own path, building our lives around our art. This session wasn’t just a performance. It was a moment. A declaration. If you haven’t yet, go give Luna Worldcast a listen. Follow her journey. Book her for a show. Support the fire. Facebook Instagram Spotify Website

episode 04E04 Burning Notes with Blackweather cover

04E04 Burning Notes with Blackweather

46 views Jun 4, 2025 04E04 Burning Notes with Blackweather The first time I met Brad Foote, better known as Blackweather, he walked into the studio full of energy and excitement. Right away, I could feel the creative fire he carried—something real, something rooted in experience. It wasn’t just about playing music; it was about saying something that matters. Brad is a talented musician and writer from Monticello, Indiana, who doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. He talks openly about mental health—his struggles, growth, and the ongoing journey to figure out how to be a functional human in a chaotic world. For Brad, music is medicine. It’s his release, his therapy, and his way of making sense of it all. During his Burning Notes session at Digital Wolf Studio, he performed his song “Personality Disorderly,” a raw and revealing piece that puts it all out there—his pain, his humor, his fight to stay grounded. The sound in the studio that day was huge, and having his wife join the session made it even more special. You could feel the support, the connection, the shared pride in what Brad was creating. After the session, we knew we needed more Blackweather, so we invited him back for the Bonus Level Takeover, right before the Sloppy Seconds show outside. The second floor filled up, the crowd was into it, and Brad even got a little experimental with his kick drum, having fun and feeding off the energy. That’s what it’s all about—letting go, getting loud, and connecting through music. It’s beautiful watching someone use their art to heal themselves—and in doing so, reach others. Brad’s music is bold, honest, and layered with meaning. He’s up for booking, so if you want someone who brings both heart and edge to the stage, hit up Blackweather and give him a listen.

episode S04E03 Burning Notes with Paul Sylvain cover

S04E03 Burning Notes with Paul Sylvain

S04E03 Burning Notes with Paul Sylvain I met Paul Sylvain in 2022, back when I had my art gallery open—The Native Nook. I kid you not, “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop was playing—one of my all-time favorite songs. As it played, I looked outside and saw someone walking by with a big backpack, clearly someone who had been traveling on foot. I thought, whoa… that guy really is the passenger. He kept walking, but not for long. We were hosting an event, and something must’ve drawn him in, because he turned around and came inside. We clicked instantly, and just like that, Paul became a friend. Since then, we’ve shared so many moments—music, laughter, stories from the road. Paul was actually the first person to give me animal bones, encouraging me to create something with them. That small gesture sparked a whole new passion and added another layer to my creative world. That’s who Paul is—someone who gives, inspires, and brings people into deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. He’s a kind soul with a wild heart. A talented musician, storyteller, and quiet force in the creative scene. You’ll often find him at Bonus Pints on Fridays, tucked into his usual corner with an orange soda, head bobbing—or full-on banging—to whatever band is playing. He’s there not just to listen, but to support. To show up for other musicians and share in the collective love for sound and expression. That’s exactly why I wanted him in the Digital Wolf Studio. These Burning Notes sessions are for musicians like Paul—to let loose, jam, and open up. To tell their stories. Paul’s got a ton of them. Some lived. Some sung. All worth hearing. I’m proud of him for stepping up and performing—especially his recent and upcoming shows at Bonus Pints. That building is buzzing with creative support from every direction. We’re all trying to express ourselves in our own way, and Paul is a beautiful example of what happens when you find your people and just start showing up. Check out his Burning Notes session video, and keep an eye out—this passenger still has miles to go and songs to share.

episode S04E02 Burning Notes with Derek Landis cover

S04E02 Burning Notes with Derek Landis

S04E02 Burning Notes with Derek Landis There’s something unforgettable about the first time you hear a voice that commands a room without trying—and that’s exactly what happened when I saw Derek Landis, better known around these parts as D-Rok, perform for the first time. It was at the 1st Annual Goblin Market, tucked away in Frank and Brett’s barn, where the air was thick with creativity, mischief, and that kind of late-night magic only a true underground show can conjure. Since then, Derek and I have crossed paths from Bob Dylan Bonding Nights to seeing our names side by side on the marquee. It’s been awesome watching him grow—not just as a musician, but as a human being. His stage presence is part storyteller, part stand-up, part soul-baring singer-songwriter. He’s as hilarious as he is heartfelt, never afraid to crack a joke or belt out a tune that hits you right in the gut. When Derek came through the Digital Wolf Studio, it was nothing short of a vibe. No mic. No amp. Just pure energy and natural acoustics. His voice boomed through the space like it was made for him. These sessions are designed for musicians like Derek—to be raw, real, and fully themselves. He made the choice to follow the music rather than follow the crowd heading off to college—and that decision is paying off. Whether he’s behind the counter slinging vinyl at The Record Farm, or on stage pouring his heart out, Derek is carving out his own path in the most D-Rok way possible. Looking to bring some authentic energy to your next show or event? Catch D-Rok on Facebook and book him while you can: facebook.com/drok.landis [http://facebook.com/drok.landis].

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
