Episode 20: GTFO 4 Good, Party of One

This week were going to talk about Countries to emigrate to and how to get permanent residency status Welcome to 1m1csh Im Chris, and this week, were going to go on a journey into the future.  Who’s future?  Well, mine, but youre welcome to see it through my lenses too.  Someday I think we all hope to relax.  Whether its on a beach, walking in the woods, climbing a rock, or just reading a books with the gentle lapping of the waves to caress you, we all have our vision of bliss.  The reality for many, and dare I say most of us, is that unless you have already made significant investments in your own future, it is going to be hard to manage to reach your dreams.  New studies show that the 25-35 year old worker will now need $4 million in order to retire.  Holy shit… So I thought, well, it sure aint here So where do I get more bang for my buck, and how TF do I get out sooner rather than later?  If I knew that, id already be ther, but it didnt stop me from starting to look at where my meager savings might do me better, and just how much it would cost to retire in paradise. How do you judge this?  Well there are a few things that come to mind for me.

Ep 18: Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame Part 1

https://www.notinhalloffame.com/fictitious-athlete-hall-of-fame [https://www.notinhalloffame.com/fictitious-athlete-hall-of-fame] Once again this year the base ball hall of fame has decided to induct just ONE player into its hallowed halls.  THis seems a travesty of its own, and the steroid era weighs heavy on the count still.  THis is not how baseball is supposed to make us feel.  It supposed to be pastoral, the same game played by ruth and gehrig is played today (albeit with 6 more games and expanded playoffs and rosters)  Similarly the pro football hall of fame has become such a money grab and huge event (blown WAY out of proportion even according to this sports fan) that its hard to celebrate some of the players for the opposite reason, just too many (imo).   Isnt sports supposed to be an emotional connection?  There are some fictional athletes that have taken me on better journeys than their real life counterparts, and thats what were going to talk about this week.  A little site I found that got this episode off the ground, the fictitious athlete hall of fame. Welcome to 1m1csh Im Chris and this week were going to try something a little different around here.  I have used the benefits of ai to help me write up some NEW stories for some of these heroes of cinema and screen.  So this week, youll get a quasi historical write up, and perhaps some AI generated fanfic thrown in.  Since its ALL about fictitious characters, im going to let YOU decide which is which.  Do you know the stories of these on screen athletes? People love sports movies for a variety of reasons. One reason is that sports movies often have relatable and inspiring themes of overcoming adversity and achieving success against all odds. Additionally, sports movies often feature compelling characters and exciting game action that keeps audiences engaged. Additionally, many people enjoy the nostalgia associated with sports movies, which can remind people of their own experiences playing sports or watching them as a fan. Additionally, many sports movies are based on real-life events or real-life athletes, which can add a level of authenticity and realism to the story. Also, some people find that sports movies serve as an escape from the stresses of everyday life, allowing them to get lost in the action and drama of the story.

Episode 17: Drunken Elephants on Rampage. Intoxicated Animals around the world

Its Monday morning.  How did you spend you weekend?  If youre like 63% of Americans you had a drink or used some drugs to unwind.  If we expand our definition of drugs to actually, you know, include ‘drugs’ like caffeine and nicotine, the number eclipses 90%.  Its just the price of being an active human, right? But alas, our humdrum workaday world does not make us unique in teh animal kingdom.  There are plenty of other animals who like to partake and enjoy their time, and you know what?  Some of them have a lot more free time than all but our most, shall we say, avid consumers of drugs.  This week, were getting high with animals. https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/wildlife/2011/10/animals-getting-high-10-common-drunks/ [https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/wildlife/2011/10/animals-getting-high-10-common-drunks/] https://www.zamnesia.com/blog-10-animals-that-love-to-get-high-n189 [https://www.zamnesia.com/blog-10-animals-that-love-to-get-high-n189] https://www.treehugger.com/drunkard-animals-creatures-that-consume-fermented-fruit-or-drinks-4869096 [https://www.treehugger.com/drunkard-animals-creatures-that-consume-fermented-fruit-or-drinks-4869096] https://www.buzzfeed.com/natashaumer/9-animals-that-could-teach-us-something-about-drugs-and-alco [https://www.buzzfeed.com/natashaumer/9-animals-that-could-teach-us-something-about-drugs-and-alco] https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-alcoholics-of-the-animal-world-81007700/ [https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-alcoholics-of-the-animal-world-81007700/] https://www.travellingcurmudgeon.com/blog/you-have-no-idea-how-hard-it-is-to-get-a-hamster-drunk [https://www.travellingcurmudgeon.com/blog/you-have-no-idea-how-hard-it-is-to-get-a-hamster-drunk] http://ursa.browntth.com/the-blog/animals-on-acid-hallucinogens-in-the-natural-world [http://ursa.browntth.com/the-blog/animals-on-acid-hallucinogens-in-the-natural-world#:~:text=Bighorn%20sheep%20in%20the%20Canadian,with%20hallucinogenic%20effects%20(1)]

episode Ep 16: A Brief History of Time (Not to be confused with Stephen Hawking) cover

Ep 16: A Brief History of Time (Not to be confused with Stephen Hawking)

Did you learn to count on your fingers?  Did you learn just how to count to ten?  Take a moment and do a little experiment with me, use either hand and hold it out palm up comfortably.  Using your thumb, tap on each finger segment on each of your 4 fingers (you can start from either end).  Did you get 12?  Good.  Now, if youre not driving or something, you can do this next part too.  Now that youve counted a full hand (12) mark that by putting up a finger on your OTHER hand.  If you then repeat this, 4 more times, you will have counted to 60, right?  And youre other hand will be open. Why are we doing a silly counting exercise before the podcast Reegs?  Whats this got to do with this week?  Folks, this week, we’re going to talk about TIME. https://www.livescience.com/44964-why-60-minutes-in-an-hour.html [https://www.livescience.com/44964-why-60-minutes-in-an-hour.html] https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-chronicle-of-timekeeping-2006-02/ [https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-chronicle-of-timekeeping-2006-02/] https://watchesbysjx.com/2020/07/time-consciousness-and-discipline-industrial-revolution.html [https://watchesbysjx.com/2020/07/time-consciousness-and-discipline-industrial-revolution.html] https://ourworldindata.org/working-hours [https://ourworldindata.org/working-hours] What does it all mean? If some asshole is ancient sumeria hadnt done it, some Gilded Age businessman still would have.  Time is as valuable as YOU make it.  Those who lament a lack of free time, should be sure to enjoy the free time they get.  If your circumstances do not allow YOU the time to enjoy leisure activities, i STRONGLY encourage you to reevaluate your time usage.  If youre not finding an outlet to be creative, if you have NO time for YOU, find some.  If youve got too many kids, well, just wait for my antinatalism episode, sorry, not sorry. Now I know, “Reegs, Ive got bills to pay”  From episode 1, this podcast has recognized two things, the privilege I come from to be able to amke decisions like leaving jobs, and working LESS, but also 2 the mindset that you can get by with LESS.  Less money for more time?  Fair trade, isnt that the trade you make the other way to GO to work?

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
