Episode 14: Rethinking Safety with Amanda Anderson, Founder and CEO of Sharewear

Welcome to the POSABILITY Podcast! POSABILITY is a nonprofit creating positive opportunities for families in the disability community. Welcome to the Posability Podcast — a podcast created for families affected by disability, where we share real conversations, helpful resources, and stories that support you as parents, caregivers, self-advocates, and community leaders. My name is Wayne Cordova, co-founder and CEO of Posability, and I’m really glad you’re here with us today. Today’s episode is one that I know is going to resonate with so many of you… because we’re talking about something that never really leaves our minds as caregivers — safety. If you’re raising a child with a disability, especially a child who may be nonverbal, have medical needs, or is prone to wandering… you know exactly what I’m talking about. There are moments where you’re constantly thinking: What if something happens? What if they can’t communicate? What if they get separated from me? These aren’t hypothetical questions — they’re real concerns that families face every single day. That’s why I’m really excited about today’s conversation, because I’m joined by Amanda Anderson, Founder and CEO of Sharewear. Amanda’s story starts in a very real and personal place — her own family — when a simple question was asked: “Isn’t there something better than this?” Something better than a basic medical ID bracelet… Something that could actually communicate meaningful information in an emergency… Something that could give a person a voice when they couldn’t speak for themselves. Out of that question, Sharewear was born — a modern, easy-to-use safety wearable designed to provide critical information in real time, without apps, without charging, and without complicated technology. And what I love about this conversation is that it’s not just about a product — it’s about peace of mind, preparedness, and giving families practical tools to help protect the people they love most. So whether this is something you’ve already been thinking about… or something you’ve never considered before… I think this conversation is going to open your eyes and give you something really practical to take away. Episode 11: Intro to ABLE Accounts

Welcome to the POSABILITY Podcast! POSABILITY is a nonprofit creating positive opportunities for families in the disability community. Today’s episode is an important one. Over a decade ago, a small group of parents gathered around a kitchen table asking a question that far too many families know all too well: How do we save for our children with disabilities the same way we save for our children without disabilities — without putting their benefits at risk? For years, families were stuck. If a person with a disability had more than $2,000 in assets, they could lose access to essential supports like SSI and Medicaid. There was no real incentive — or safe pathway — to save for education, housing, transportation, or even basic quality-of-life expenses. But today, we have a better way forward. This year marks 10 years since the passage of the Achieving a Better Life Experience — or ABLE — Act, a bipartisan, transformational law that created ABLE accounts: a way for individuals with disabilities to save and invest for their future without losing critical benefits. And joining us today is someone who has been deeply involved in making that vision a reality here in Florida. Our guest is John Finch, Director of ABLE United, Florida’s disability savings program. John has spent years advocating for individuals with disabilities — from his time at The Arc of Florida to his leadership with the Florida Prepaid College Board — and today he helps oversee a program that has already empowered over 12,000 Floridians, with the potential to impact hundreds of thousands more. John is also a husband, a father of three boys, a man of faith, and someone who believes deeply that financial dignity is part of independence. Today, we’re going to break this down in a way that’s clear, honest, and family-friendly — what ABLE accounts are, who they’re for, how they work, and why this matters so much for the disability community. So grab a cup of coffee, take a breath, and let’s dive in. Episode 10: Momentum

Welcome to the POSABILITY Podcast! POSABILITY is a nonprofit creating positive opportunities for families in the disability community. As we close out 2025, we wanted to end the year with something we’re calling momentum. Today’s episode is a little different. Instead of a traditional interview, we’re sharing audio from our Momentum Luncheon — a powerful gathering where families, supporters, and community partners came together to reflect on the journey Posability has been on. In this episode, you’re going to hear real stories — testimonies from two families who have been impacted by Posability. You’ll hear a little about where we’ve been, the challenges we’ve faced, and the progress we’ve made. And more importantly, you’ll hear about where we’re headed as we step into a new year with vision, hope, and purpose. If you’re a parent walking this road, a supporter of the disability community, or someone who believes in creating access and opportunity — this episode is for you. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
