Ilizarov in Kurgan, USSR in 1987 and was instrumental in introducing the Ilizarov method of treating limb length discrepancies, deformities, non-unions and malunions to orthopedic surgeons around the world. He discusses changes that led to PRECICE, the only externally controlled intramedullary lengthening and compression nail currently available in the U.S.
