RSG Ep. 1: Mental Health and Autism

For most of my life, I didn’t have the language for why everything felt so hard. Not just “hard” in an obvious way—but emotionally hard, socially exhausting, mentally overwhelming… in ways nobody else could see. I spent years assuming I was just too sensitive, not resilient enough, or somehow failing at life in a way everyone else had figured out. In Episode 1 of Recovering Sad Girl, I’m sharing the story of how I eventually discovered I was living with late-diagnosed ADHD and autism, and how the COVID shutdown was the moment everything I had been holding together finally unraveled. This episode is about neurodivergence in women, masking, high-functioning anxiety, burnout, and what it feels like to carry shame for symptoms you didn’t even know were symptoms. We talk about: ✨ Late diagnosis ADHD ✨ Autism in women / autism in girls ✨ Masking and invisible burnout ✨ RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) ✨ PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) ✨ Depression, anxiety, and nervous system overwhelm ✨ Why healing isn’t “fixing yourself”—it’s finally understanding yourself I also share why learning the research changed my life, how support needs matter more than “high vs low functioning,” and why these conversations about mental health, neurodivergence, and survival are so important. ⚠️ Trigger warning: This episode includes discussion of suicide risk statistics (non-graphic, research-based). If you’ve ever searched: * “Do I have ADHD?” * “Signs of autism in adult women” * “High functioning anxiety and burnout” * “Why do friendships feel hard?” * “Why am I so emotionally exhausted?” * “Why do I feel like I’m too much?” …this episode is for you. 💛 You are not broken. You’re not alone. And your story matters. Listen now + subscribe to Recovering Sad Girl! Introducing: Recovering Sad Girl with Kelly Rocklein

Recovering Sad Girl is a space for women who’ve spent their lives feeling like they’re “too much,” “too sensitive,” or somehow always falling behind—without knowing why. Here, we talk about ADHD, Autism, PMDD, general neurodivergence, mental health (anxiety and depression), hormones, and the messy reality of trying to function in a world that wasn’t built for our brains or bodies. Expect honest conversations, practical resources, and moments that make you feel seen—without judgment or shame. This podcast is also designed to be approachable for younger girls with parent supervision and awareness, and any episodes that lean more PG-13 will be clearly labeled in the title or description so listeners can choose what feels right for them. Because you’re not broken—you just needed context. 💜

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
