Spiked Heaters: A Between Innings Podcast is a weekly, in-season reflection on coaching, leadership, and the mental side of baseball. Recorded in real time, between games, this podcast isn’t about recaps or hot takes — it’s about decision-making, emotional regulation, standards, and perspective during a long season.
Part therapy, part leadership journal, Spiked Heaters is an honest look at the space between preparation and performance, told from inside the dugout while it’s actually happening.

Episode 17- Life Doesn’t Pause

This week on Spiked Heaters, Torr returns after his first multi-week break from recording and reflects on a stretch where it feels like everything is moving at once. From recruiting transfers, running camps, and supporting players through real-life struggles off the field, to trying to stay grounded while the summer wheel spins, this episode is about carrying a lot without losing your footing. Torr also shares some of the bright spots in the middle of the noise — JT Andoroski and John Rorick earning Rawlings Gold Gloves, the first Gold Glovers of his coaching career, Carson playing in his first 7U tournament and loving every second of it, and Paige competing at YMCA Nationals in Greensboro. It’s a reminder that even when life feels heavy, there is still a lot of good worth noticing. More than anything, this episode is about trying to stay steady in the middle of it all — building better systems, protecting clarity, leaning on family, and remembering that coaching does not pause when life gets busy, and life does not pause for coaching either.

Episode 16- Alignment

This week on Spiked Heaters, Torr reflects on a trip to Pocono Raceway and the lesson that stood out most: great organizations are built on teamwork, precision, trust, and the understanding that everybody matters. From the pit crew to the crew chief to the driver, NASCAR reminded him just how much successful teams depend on alignment behind the scenes — a truth that carries straight into college baseball. Torr also talks about teaching Carson to hit, why working with a seven-year-old forces you to simplify your message, and how those same lessons about clarity, confidence, and fun carry over to coaching college players. He then opens up about losing assistant coach RJ Agris to Penn, the reality of replacing good staff when you cannot offer much beyond opportunity, and what he is really looking for in the next hire. Finally, Torr shares what stood out from entry surveys and meetings with DeSales’ incoming freshmen, why alignment starts before players ever arrive on campus, and how the next version of the program is already beginning to take shape. Everybody does not need the same role — but everybody has to matter.

Episode 15- Uncomfortable Truths

This week on Spiked Heaters, Torr reflects on what really begins when a season ends: the evaluation process. Using excerpts from a monologue he gave the team called Uncomfortable Truths, he talks through the post-season system that helps him move from emotion to clarity — starting with gratitude, thank-you notes, and an honest look at what needs to be fixed and what needs to be protected. Torr also takes listeners inside the real work that starts almost immediately after the final out: team meetings, exit meetings, self-evaluation, staff feedback, roster construction, transfer recruiting, and the challenge of improving without changing who DeSales Baseball is at its core. Success matters, but it does not carry over on its own. More than anything, this episode is about the truth serious programs have to face: every year starts over. The mountain does not care what happened last season. The next rep is the next rep, the next lift is the next lift, and the next climb has already begun.

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
