Les mer Steadfast Devotion
A weekly podcast dedicated to sharing the Gospel in every episode. Podcast will resume January 4, 2021
For the Sake of the Gospel
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:11, “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account." As Christians how are we to respond to those who revile and persecute us. Among the trials and temptations we face, there may come a time when unbelievers or our brothers and sisters in Christ may persecute us for our faith. In our study this week we're going to switch gears from learning how to remain steadfast in our circumstances to remain steadfast in the face of adversity.
Stewarding our Gifts
In this week's episode, we begin chapter 5 and get an overview of what James has to say to the Jewish Christians regarding our gifts. There are two questions we should ask ourselves when it comes to using our gifts; "to what are we stewarding our gifts?" and "to whom are we stewarding them too?" Tune in today's episode as we unpack more.
The Arrogance and Pride of Life
Proverbs 27:1 "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring." As we wrap up James 4 we take a look into why we shouldn't boast of tomorrow, and if we have made the decision to live for Christ why we shouldn't delay in following Him.
For the Purpose of Restoration
Galatians 6:1 tells us, "Brothers if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted." In today's study, we are going to look at the sin of judging. But as the body of Christ are we called to judge our brothers and sisters regarding their spiritual and personal lives? Join me today to find out. Also, let's learn what Jesus meant when he said "Judge not, that you be not judged."
Laughter Turned to Mourning
In today's episode, we continue to look at the warning James gives his readers about living in the world, but he begins to talk about repentance in verses 8-10, what does repentance actually look like and why should we do it if we have been born again? Join me in today's podcast as we explore the topic of turning laughter into mourning.
