My mission is to help women change the way we see aging, and my purpose is to live this out myself setting the example for my friends, clients, and family for generations to come. As a 51-year-old nutrition, strength, and behavior change coach, I have developed many strategies with my clients over the years to help them reach their goals. It always starts with changing the way we think, adopting a spirit ready to learn, followed by a willingness to change. No meal plan or ”diet” can get someone to really change, but I’ve seen people do amazing things when they fully commit to a lifestyle shift over time. I have coached and supported thousands of people over the years who have finally embraced the lifestyle that ultimately got them to their goals. I’ve seen lives and families transformed because one person decided to get ahold of their health. I will share all the success stories, and ways to build muscle and lose body fat (all the good stuff you want to know), but also provide the reality of what it takes to really have what you want. This isn’t about food and exercises only, this is about falling in love with the process and lifestyle. In this podcast, I will talk with experts and peers in the health and fitness industry (and outside of the industry) to provide actionable information you can apply to your life now, strategies for changing the way you think, and an opportunity to follow along and simply be inspired. Key themes: • Women’s hormones and training: We discussed the current conversation around female hormones and exercise and the importance of separating evidence from marketing and oversimplification. While hormonal fluctuations can matter in certain contexts, the impact is often overstated in mainstream fitness messaging. • What actually works for women: The conversation emphasized that foundational training principles still matter most: progressive overload, recovery, consistency, nutrition, adequate energy intake, and individualized programming over chasing “female specific hacks.” • Helpful vs. unhelpful research: We talked about where exercise research for women has historically fallen short and how interpretation can become distorted. There was discussion around being cautious of conclusions drawn from limited studies, overgeneralized cycle phase recommendations, and protocol driven content that lacks real world applicability. • How women should think about training: Rather than constantly adjusting training based on hormones alone, women may benefit from focusing on long term adaptation, building body awareness, and creating flexible systems that allow for performance, recovery, and sustainability. • Fitness philosophy over protocols: A major takeaway was shifting attention away from searching for the perfect protocol and toward understanding principles. The discussion encouraged women to think critically, question absolutes, and avoid unnecessary complexity.
