I was listening to an old sermon by a 19th century England Preacher, C.H. Spurgeon. He tells a story of a Black man chilling and reading the bible when a white man comes (you know, with the same old bull sh!7) and says, “what are you doing? That book isn’t meant for you”. Bro responds by saying, “Yeah it is, look, my name is right here”, pointing at the word “SINNER”.
I couldn’t help but to say to myself, “Oh shit, my name is, SINNER!” And bro how lovely is that name. I often watch people seek for salvation in words of scriptures, man made doctrines, religion, teachings from men, and even TikTok videos that go into the biggest secrets with the smallest of understanding. If you ask your bro, where is salvation? He’ll respond “come, I’ll show you salvation at this place!” Ask your sis and she’ll respond, “Here, Salvation is in this book, go read!” Really! will no one say, “Go out to your balconies and look to the heavens and ask!” Or have you not read! Salvation is not found but giving to those with the only name salvation knows. “SINNER!”
To the one who yells, “salvation is in religion”! You know the one who say with their actions, “I will live this way 6 days a week and sing with the choir and yell with the preacher 1 day a week! then I’ll find salvation.” To them I say, “That’s bull shit bro”. Your salvation goes with the wind. For one day Christianity holds your salvation, the next you will say “Their preachers where greedy and perverted”. Then you’ll say, swearing, “On God I have found the truth in the Muslim faith”, until you see their burdens are strict and heavy. Well, I’ll go to the teachings of Gandhi you’ll cry! 3 days and your belly will convince you that hunger is no way to salvation.
Shut up! Listen! Can you not hear? Do you not listen? We do not find salvation, but salvation finds us. She doesn’t find you by name given to you by your mother. Neither does she care for your title. She only knows you by the name giving to you by a perverted species. Accept it or not, your name is, “SINNER”!
Salvation has no reason to call for the stars or the universe. What would she say to the Earth? who at any moment can rid itself of species non deserving of her majesty. Would she say to the sky, “I will save you from the heavens”? Fuck No! She sees no other than the human species as sinners against them selves in need of her touch.
Young’n! Do you not see her? Can you not feel her? She is perfection but thirsts for my imperfection! She is beauty but desires my hideous heart! She is strength but boasts in my weakness! She is all and requires nothing from me, her name is glorious highest above all, oh how sweet is her name, yet she yells out in the darkness mine. A name so bitter with secrets hidden in the deepest errors of my soul. Still, she calls my name and I’ll respond. With no pride, only gratitude. “I’m right here! my name is, “SINNER”!
