#63 - A Human Being Just Like Us | James 5:17-18 | Pray Like It Matters

God doesn’t use perfect people—He uses dependent people. In this episode of The Daily Rebel, we break down James 5:17 and look at the life of Elijah through a completely different lens. Most people hear Elijah’s name and think of fire from heaven, miraculous power, and fearless faith. But James intentionally reminds us of something shocking: Elijah was “a human being as we are.” Same struggles. Same weaknesses. Same emotions. The same man who prayed boldly also battled fear, exhaustion, loneliness, and discouragement. The power was never in Elijah—the power was in the God Elijah trusted.  This episode dismantles the lie that God only uses “super-spiritual” people and calls listeners back to dependence, alignment, and surrender. We unpack three key truths: 1. Elijah was human — Stop disqualifying yourself because you don’t feel strong enough. You don’t need a different identity; you need deeper dependence on God.  2. Elijah was positioned — Powerful prayer comes from alignment with God’s will, not emotional hype or performance. Elijah wasn’t trying to force God to move—he was moving with God.  3. Elijah was available — God doesn’t use perfect people; He uses willing and surrendered people who make themselves available to Him.  So many people spend their lives asking, “Am I enough?” when the better question is, “Am I available?” Jesus didn’t come for the strong or self-sufficient—He came for the weak and dependent. Because of Him, you don’t have to qualify yourself before coming to God. You just have to surrender. Elijah was just like us… but he trusted God, and God moved. Stop disqualifying yourself, and start depending on Him. episode #62 - Pray When It's Real | James 5:16 | Pray Like It Matters cover

#62 - Pray When It's Real | James 5:16 | Pray Like It Matters

Freedom begins where honesty starts. In this episode of The Daily Rebel, we break down James 5:16 and confront one of the biggest lies people live under: hiding struggles while hoping for healing.  James lays out a powerful progression—confession, prayer, and healing—and shows us that secrecy keeps people spiritually stuck. The things we hide the longest often become the things that control us the deepest. You can look fine on the outside while privately fighting battles nobody knows about, but healing was never designed to grow in darkness.  This episode challenges the culture of isolation and fake spirituality by calling listeners into honesty, community, and alignment with God. We unpack three major truths: 1. Reveal what’s real — You can’t heal what you won’t reveal. Secrecy feeds struggle, but confession breaks its grip.  2. Connect, don’t conceal — God never designed you to fight alone. Isolation feeds sin, but accountability and prayer bring strength.  3. Align to access power — The power of prayer doesn’t come from perfection, but from a surrendered life walking closely with God.  Most people want freedom without exposure, healing without honesty, and breakthrough without surrender. But James makes it clear: healing starts where honesty begins. Jesus didn’t hide your sin—He exposed it and carried it to the cross so you wouldn’t have to live chained to it anymore. Stop hiding. Start healing. Get real, get connected, and get aligned. Because redeemed rebels don’t fake freedom they fight for it in the light.  Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2599435/fan_mail/new] Book Derek Griffon to Speak at your next event  https://www.derekgriffon.com/invite [https://www.derekgriffon.com/invite]

episode #61 - Pray In Every Season | James 5:13-15 | Pray Like It Matters cover

#61 - Pray In Every Season | James 5:13-15 | Pray Like It Matters

Prayer was never meant to be seasonal.  In this episode of The Daily Rebel, we walk through James 5:13–15 and confront the reality that many people don’t actually have a prayer life—they have a crisis response. When life falls apart, they pray. When pressure hits, they panic and finally seek God. But when life is steady, comfortable, or successful, prayer slowly disappears. James destroys that mindset by showing us that prayer is not reserved for emergencies—it’s meant for every season of life.  James gives three different situations: suffering, cheerfulness, and weakness.  That’s intentional. He’s covering pain, pleasure, and pressure—every major rhythm of human life. The message is clear: prayer is not situational, it’s foundational. If suffering drives you away from God instead of deeper into dependence on Him, you’ll miss the very strength God wants to provide. If blessing causes you to enjoy life while forgetting the God who gave it, your heart slowly drifts into self-sufficiency. And if weakness causes you to isolate instead of bringing your burdens into the light, independence will crush you spiritually.  In this episode we break down three core truths: 1. Pray when it hurts — Pain is not meant to push you away from God, but deeper into Him.  2. Praise when it’s good — If you only talk to God when you need Him, you don’t have relationship—you have transaction.  3. Pray when you’re weak — Weakness isn’t the problem; independence is. God designed you to need Him and the people around you.  Jesus prayed in every season: pressure, peace, pain, and suffering. And because of Him, you don’t have to carry life alone. Whatever season you’re in—pray in it. Because redeemed rebels don’t pray occasionally; they pray consistently. episode For Men | Resistance | Jonah 4 | The Jonah Warning for Men cover

For Men | Resistance | Jonah 4 | The Jonah Warning for Men

You can obey God’s commands while still resisting God’s heart. In Episode 4 of the Jonah Warning for Men series, we walk through Jonah 4 and expose the deepest issue in Jonah’s life—not his feet, but his heart. Nineveh repents. Revival breaks out. And Jonah gets angry. Why? Because Jonah loved grace when it rescued him but resisted grace when it rescued people he disliked. This episode confronts: *  self-righteousness  *  spiritual pride  *  resistance to compassion  *  and the danger of obeying externally while remaining hardened internally.  Because redeemed rebels don’t just obey God externally. They align with Him internally. THREE GRITTY TRUTHS 1.  RESISTANCE FORGETS THE GRACE YOU NEEDED  2.  RESISTANCE WANTS MERCY FOR SELF, JUSTICE FOR OTHERS  3.  RESISTANCE REVEALS A HEART OUT OF ALIGNMENT WITH GOD Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2599435/fan_mail/new] Book Derek Griffon to Speak at your next event  https://www.derekgriffon.com/invite [https://www.derekgriffon.com/invite]

episode #60 - Say What You Mean | James 5:12 | Built To Last cover

#60 - Say What You Mean | James 5:12 | Built To Last

Your words shouldn’t need help. In this episode of The Daily Rebel, we break down James 5:12 and confront the issue of integrity, exaggeration, and empty words. James warns believers not to rely on dramatic promises or extra language to sound believable—but to simply let their “yes” be yes and their “no” be no. We unpack three truths: 1. Simplicity of speech  2. Strength of character 3. Sobriety before God  You’ll hear why integrity removes the need for explanation, how weak character hides behind loud words, and why God takes your speech seriously. You don’t need extra words when your life is honest. Say what you mean…and live it.
