Born in Washington, DC, and raised in New York City, he earned his BA, MFA, and PhD in art and archaeology from Princeton University. A scion of the Scribner's publishing dynasty, he worked for nearly three decades at Charles Scribner's Sons and Macmillan, rising to executive roles. Scribner has authored books on Peter Paul Rubens and Gianlorenzo Bernini, contributed to Vanity Fair and Art & Antiques, and lectured at institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He lives in New York City with his wife, artist Ritchie Harrison Markoe, and their two sons.
