Episode 7: Lindsay Barr

We’re wrapping up Season 1 of The Musician Next Door with the whirlwind of energy that is local musical icon Lindsay Barr. Lindsay’s live Musician Next Door show will be Thursday December 12 at 9 pm at our host venue, Next Door pub at 197 Hunter Street West. Lindsay got her start in the industry in the Canadian music mecca of St. John’s, Newfoundland with her ska-rock infused band The Firewires. From one George Street to another, Lindsay eventually came from St. John’s back to Peterborough and the local music scene has never been the same. She’s also an actor and a visual artist. You’ll hear more about both (as well as some insight into her ever-expanding array of tattoos) in the episode, which is a dandy. Also, be sure to check out Lindsay’s brand spanking new video for her song I Don’t Dance, out today (December 15) on YouTube. Here’s the link [https://youtu.be/XaGDwAbmykk]. Enjoy the episode. We’re going to take a break for a couple of months but we’re coming back strong with Season 2 starting in February 2020 with some fantastic artists already lined up. If you miss us in the interim, feel free to scroll down the site and have a listen to any of our episodes that you’ve missed. The Musician Next Door is the brainchild of Kerry Jayne McMaster and Stephen Stamp. Each month of the season we have a local musician join us to play some tunes and talk about their music and their lives. Then, a couple of weeks after the podcast drops, the musician plays live at Next Door at 197 Hunter Street West.

Episode 6: Evangeline Gentle

Evangeline Gentle is breaking through in the music industry. Evangeline has been picked up by Coax Records, put our a self-titled debut album earlier this year and has been opening for established performers like Donovan Woods, Terra Lightfoot and Meghan Bonnell. Since being named the Emerging Artist of the 2015 Peterborough Folk Festival, Evangeline’s career arc has trended steadily upward. This month on The Musician Next Door, we speak with Evangeline about the music, the activism as a queer individual who believes that we should all just treat each other with love and respect and the circus performers in the Gentle family history who passed down their love of and knack for performance. The Musician Next Door is the brainchild of Kerry Jayne McMaster and Stephen Stamp. Every month we’ll have a local musician join us to play some tunes and talk about their music and their lives. Then, a couple of weeks after the podcast drops, the musician will play live at Next Door at 197 Hunter Street West. This month, catch Nathan Miller at Next door at 9 pm on Friday, September 27.

Episode 5: Nathan Miller

Nathan Miller is largely known around the Peterborough music scene for the people he’s played with. Miller has been a regular guitarist with Musician Next Door alumna Hillary Dumoulin’s band, he’s played drums with a selection of bands playing a wide variety of styles. But Miller is an accomplished musician with his own songs, his own sound and even his own band: Sun Valley, made up of a group of guys from his high school including the music teacher. This month on The Musician Next Door, Miller talks about working your way into the local musical scene, why going to school for something other than music seemed like a good idea at the time, and much more. As always, the episode includes a recorded track by this month’s MND, in this case a song that Miller wrote for Sun Valley’s album, plus a song played live just for the podcast. Enjoy the podcast and come on out for the live show. The Musician Next Door is the brainchild of Kerry Jayne McMaster and Stephen Stamp. Episode 4: Lauryn MacFarlane

Lauryn MacFarlane has always felt music inside her and she’s always wanted to share it, for which we can all be grateful. MacFarlane is just 23 years old but is already making her mark in the music industry. She plays gigs regularly, earning a devoted following, and she is moving soon from Peterborough to Montreal to pursuit her art, including cutting a record. The Musician Next Door was fortunate enough to catch up with Lauryn to record a podcast before she left. She’ll also, of course, be playing at Next Door at the end of the month, which is really right before she leaves for Montreal. Like, two days before she leaves. We hope you enjoy the conversation and her songs: her recorded version of Never Changing Nowhere Town and a live to podcast performance of You. episode Episode 3: Bruno Merz cover

Episode 3: Bruno Merz

Bruno Merz produces some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. His songs transport you to another level of consciousness with their layered melodies and haunting vocals. That’s why we’re so excited to have him on Episode 3 of the podcast. Once you get past the name confusion that Bruno always has to address and just focus on the music, you will be blown away by his sound. Bruno and his wife, dancer Dreda Blow, have lived internationally but now Peterborough is fortunate that they call our home their home as well. Enjoy the conversation, including the story of how his song came to be featured on the movie Life As We Know It, his recent writing spree in California and much more. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
