In this episode, we follow the rise of Elizabeth I and the world she inherited..... a country already divided by faith, fear, and years of violence. Where Mary used fire, Elizabeth would take a different approach. But for Catholics living under her rule, belief itself could become dangerous in a new way. This is the story of what happened when the struggle for England’s faith didn’t end… it simply changed form. If you enjoy stories where history, faith, and real human decisions collide, follow along as the story continues. Bloody Mary: The Catholic Queen Who Burned Protestants

Their deaths would become some of the most famous executions of the English Reformation, and they took place under the rule of one of England’s most controversial monarchs. Mary I of England; remembered by history as Bloody Mary. In this episode, we explore the life of Mary Tudor and the events that led to the burnings that defined her reign. From the collapse of her childhood world when Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church, to her determination to restore Catholicism when she finally became queen, Mary’s story is one of faith, trauma, power, and a country struggling over its religious future. We also examine the executions that followed her restoration of Catholic authority, including the burnings of Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley, and the execution of ordinary believers like Agnes Prest. Their deaths would later be recorded in John Foxe’s Acts and Monuments, better known as The Book of Martyrs, shaping how generations would remember Mary’s rule. But the fires of Mary’s reign did not end England’s religious conflict. When Mary died in 1558, the crown passed to her Protestant half-sister Elizabeth and the struggle over England’s faith would take a new and dangerous form. That story continues in the next episode. How One King Changed Christianity in England | Divorce, Power, & the Fall of Rome | Prt 1

Case Suggestions? Send us a message here! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2497700/open_sms] In this episode, we examine Henry VIII and the split from Rome | the political and religious crisis that launched the English Reformation. Was it truly a Protestant revolution? Or was it a king’s struggle for power, control, and a male heir? We break down the “Great Matter,” Henry’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon, the role of Pope Clement VII, Parliament’s involvement, and how the Church of England was created. We also explore why Henry VIII remained doctrinally closer to Catholicism than many people assume, despite breaking with the papacy. This episode looks beyond the drama of the six wives and into the deeper conflict between crown and church: a turning point that reshaped England and altered Christian history forever. If you’re interested in Tudor history, church history, the English Reformation, Catholic and Protestant conflict, and the political theology of 16th-century Europe, this episode sets the foundation for the series. The Christian Mistake That Nearly Cost Me My Faith

Case Suggestions? Send us a message here! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2497700/open_sms] In this episode of The Unseen Witness, I share a personal story about a mistake I made in my Christian walk. One that slowly pulled my faith away from Christ without me realizing it. This is not a political episode. It’s a reflection on faith, Scripture, identity, and what happens when Christianity becomes confused with culture rather than rooted in Christ Himself. In this episode, we explore: How easy it is to inherit beliefs without understanding them Why Scripture, Church history, and the lives of the saints matter What the Gospel actually asks of Christians How faith can be distorted — and how it can be restored This episode is for anyone who has ever struggled to reconcile belief with belonging, or felt distant from God while still calling themselves Christian. 🎧 New episodes every week on miracles, martyrs, sacred places, and Catholic theology. 🔔 Subscribe to follow The Unseen Witness. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
