The True Meaning Of Balance

When we think about the word balance, we often envision an ancient weighing scale holding an equal measure of shekels, gold or silver.  Sadly, overtime we have applied this definition of equal weight or equal distribution to our daily lives.  If I give the same amount of time, effort, attention to everything that makes up my day, then I am living a balanced lifestyle... This definition of balance is flawed, as it causes us to view people, responsibilities and commitments of higher priority and importance, in the same category as things that are less important in the grand scheme of life. Family time cannot be equally measured with my career or else my family life will suffer. This is one example of many where uneven distribution is not only required to maintain a balanced lifestyle but also recommended to uphold a healthy family structure.  True balance requires inequality, guided by a mature sense of priority and responsibility.  In other words, sometimes it's best if the scale is uneven.
